After years of being run by liberals, the state of California has descended into chaos. The Golden State faces a mounting homeless crisis as well as an exodus of manufacturing jobs. Earlier this week, Forbes published an op-ed calling on television host and author Mike Rowe to run for governor of California in order to save the state. Now, Rowe has responded publicly to the request.

Mike Rowe On Running For California Governor

“It’s very flattering,” Rowe told Fox & Friends. While he read the op-ed, Rowe says he is not ready to throw his hat into the ring at this time.

“What California must do is broaden its base of industries and not be dependent on the few I mentioned earlier along with its addiction to stock and real estate gains,” Rich Karlgaard wrote in the op ed.

“Why I like you as California governor, Mike, is that you’re the perfect spokesman for the kind of industries and jobs that California needs to bring back: Manufacturing jobs, highway expansion jobs, water system jobs, energy jobs.”

Rowe explained that capital gains tax revenues are a disproportionate part of California’s state budget and that homelessness was a major issue.

“All [capital gains] are tied to real estate and the stock market. Those things are going to come down. When they come down, that money is going to dry up,” he said. “I mean, manufacturing is gone, aerospace is gone, banking is gone, energy is gone.”

“What’s going to happen in a couple of years when things come back to Earth?” Rowe questioned.

California’s Homeless Issue Is Out Of Hand

California’s homeless problem is so bad that President Donald Trump called out the state’s current Governor, Gavin Newsom.

“Governor Gavin N has done a really bad job on taking care of the homeless population in California. If he can’t fix the problem, the Federal Govt. will get involved!” Trump tweeted on Christmas.

California has the largest homeless population in the United States with 129,972 in January 2018, according to a Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD] report. On top of that, over 68 percent of the homeless population in California is categorized as unsheltered.

Rowe Would Be A Great California Governor

While the “Dirty Jobs” host is clearly not thinking of running for governor at this time, we hope he reconsiders in the future.

He would make an amazing politician, and Mike Rowe might be the best person to save California.
