Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian in history. You would think that the legendary swimmer had it all. But, that is not true. We all have our struggles and sometimes even the people who seemingly have everything can feel hopeless and despondent. He was considering suicide.
“I thought the world would be better off without me. I figured the best thing to do – just end my life.”
Then Ray Lewis gave his struggling friend a copy of Pastor Rick Warren’s “Purpose Driven Life.” The book hit Phelps in a manner with which he credits saving his life.
In the interview below, Phelps describes how the book impacted him. He now knows he fits into God’s plan.
Amazing! You never know what someone is struggling with. We all have our burdens, even the best athletes in the world. Money and fame cannot buy you peace. Sometimes you need to find it. And thankfully, Phelps found it in this book.
