Ever since President Donald Trump was elected, liberals have been pressuring athletes and sports teams to refuse to meet with him at the White House after their big victories. Unfortunately, many sports stars have acquiesced by turning down invitations by the President for a White House visit. LSU, however, will not be caving to those pressures and will indeed visit the White House.
That’s right. Louisiana State University’s football team, which just won the national championship, will join Trump at the White House to celebrate tomorrow!

LSU To Visit White House Tomorrow
According to The Hill, a White House spokesperson confirmed that the White House will host the national champion LSU Tigers on Friday. Just four days after the Tigers defeated Clemson in the college football title game, 42-25.
President Trump attended the championship game in New Orleans with his wife, Melania, and the first couple was greeted with cheers as soon as they appeared at the sporting event.

Cue Tweetstorm
Of course, the champion Tigers’ decision to attend the White House was not popular with everyone. As if on cue, liberals took to Twitter to slight the opportunity and parade their disdain for America’s elected President.
Joke’s on LSU. They have to go to the White House. Who’s the real winner now?!

@Joe_Burrow10 Joe, please consider not attending the White House reception coming up. The Trump administration is only using you and the historic LSU squad to further their own ill-considered agenda. Don’t let them.

Making my first comment on Twitter
Just watched an amazing National championship football game and hope the LSU Tigers and MVP joe Burrows politely decline White House visit until it’s a honorable host without an agenda who lives there— Chuckster (@Chuckst18799834) January 16, 2020
But LSU fans weren’t deterred. They are so dang proud of their boys and their prestigious White House invitation.

I hope Trump holds a big crawfish boil on the White House lawn for the LSU Tigers. Can’t wait to see the media reaction.

Garbage aside, Twitter user Matt “The Ostrich” Mitchell offered my favorite take on the champs’ White House visit.
It doesn’t matter who you’re rooting for, just admit a small part of you wants LSU to win so Coach O can roll up the White House a night early with his own pot of gumbo and a live tiger.

Not All Teams Get A White House Invite
President Trump is known for being a huge football fan, and he attended three college games this season. Two of which involved the LSU Tigers.
It’s unfortunate, however, that since taking office, Trump has been put in the position of having to disinvite various sports teams that publicly disrespected the President and our country. That list includes the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.

Thankfully, most teams choose the high road when it comes to President Trump’s White House invitations.
Last year, Trump hosted the Clemson University Tigers after their national championships win. The President proudly served them fast food from chains like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, and Domino’s pizza during the government shutdown.
“The President wanted to host a fun event to celebrate the College Football National Champion Clemson Tigers. Because the Democrats refuse to negotiate on border security, much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed – so the President is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods,” the White House said in a statement at the time.
In November, the MLB World Series champions Washington Nationals visited Trump’s White House. The professional baseball players treated the once-in-a-lifetime event with the respect it deserves. And the crowd will not soon forget that event after Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki whipped out a “Make America Great Again” hat to wear.
LSU Is All Class
Regardless of the sitting President, receiving a White House invite is a huge honor. One that no American should ever turn down.
So it’s unfortunate that Democrats have politicized these historic visits so fiercely since Trump took office.
We applaud LSU’s football team for taking the high road, and remaining respectful of President Trump before their visit.
If only all American athletes could do the same thing!
