The Last of Us Season 3 Star Has Been Confirmed

After watching the finale for season 2 of The Last of Us, fans were left with a jaw-dropping ending with the implication of another season. Thankfully, that dream is becoming a reality, especially now that The Last of Us season 3 star has been confirmed.

Be aware that there will be spoilers for The Last of Us seasons 1 and 2, as well as spoilers for the games that the show is based on.

While it might be a while before the show is back on Max, that hasn’t stopped information from circulating lately about the plot, characters, and more.

The showrunner, Craig Mazin, talked about the third season during a press release, saying, “We approached season two with the goal of creating something we could be proud of. The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our collaboration with BBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew. We look forward to continuing the story of The Last of Us with season three!”

During an Emmys FYC event, co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann offered some insight into the third season. Druckmann confirmed a major part of the cast while talking about the ‘controversial decisions’ they made on the series, for instance, killing Joel so early in the season.

Druckmann says, “The decisions are just what the story required, and even now it’s like I can’t believe that they let us structure the series in this way. Meaning like we just ended season 2, and season 3 is going to be starring, spoiler alert, Kaitlyn.”

Kaitlyn Dever joined The Last of Us in the second season as Abby Anderson, the dual protagonist who is a member of the Fireflies that were broken up due to Joel Miller. Abby, in both the show and the games that the show is based on, was the one responsible for killing Joel.

After the show traces Abby’s steps that lead to her shooting Ellie, or someone, in the abandoned Seattle theater, it’s safe to assume the show will finally reveal how badly Abby hurt Ellie.
