Johnny Carson loved working with his crew on “The Tonight Show.” You could tell how much fun he had with Ed McMahon, Doc, and the gang.

The video below is a particularly fun one to watch during the Christmas season. They sing “Deck The Halls” while sitting on a bench.

When they start singing “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” it starts to snow… then it REALLY starts to snow, but they just keep singing along! Soon they are buried in snow!

Watch the video below for a good laugh!

Ed McMahon’s singing is evidence as to why he wasn’t usually singing with “The Tonight Show” band!

All that snow didn’t phase those four friends at all. A blizzard wasn’t about to stop their Christmas spirit!

Johnny and Ed McMahon were obviously in this skit. YouTuber kevincrashkelly explained who the others were. “The big guy is Pat McCormick, comedy writer for Carson show, and also comedy writer for Red Skelton, Jack Parr, Get Smart..and he is in Smokey and the Bandit as the big and small rich guys betting Burt Reynolds can’t deliver the Coors beer in time,” he wrote. “He of course is the Big Guy…….the other in this is Tommy Newsom who would lead the band when Doc Severinson not there. Carson made fun of his dead pan expression calling him boring and not exactly Mr Excitement, a running gag on the show. ”

Classic “Tonight Show” episodes are the best. Skits like this are still funny decades later – that’s the difference between classic comedy and some of the junk you see nowadays.

We would stay up late to end our day with some good laughs.

Johnny Carson didn’t use his show to lecture us on his political stances. He respected and valued his audience more than today’s late-night television hosts. He knew we watched to relax and laugh!
