The Paper is said to premiere this September, with an exact date yet to be revealed, and will exclusively stream on Peacock. But what’s it supposed to be about?

The series will be yet another mockumentary set in the same universe as The Office. The show will feature the same documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton Branch on the search for a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper. They then see that the publisher is trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.
The creator of the show, Greg Daniels, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the series, saying, “It’s a fruitful premise. There’s a tremendous history for local papers. The villain here is the internet and the ability to look at everybody’s news for free, and all the ad revenue going to Google.”

But will John Krasinski appear in The Office spinoff? In a recent interview with EXTRA, the actor who played Jim Halpert confirmed that he “would be down” to do a cameo on the show’s spinoff series, The Paper. “Done! If they ask me, I’m in,” Krasinski said when asked about the upcoming comedy.

He goes further about the series, saying, “I’m excited to see what they do with it. It’s such an amazing idea, and listen, if Greg [Daniels] is behind it, we’re all in. And you can’t get a better actor than [Domhnall Gleeson] to take on the mantle.”
Along with Krasinski confirming that he’d love to pop in on the show, another former cast member of The Office has been confirmed. Oscar Nunez, reprising his role as Oscar Martinez, is the only one who has been confirmed to make an appearance.

Other ex-cast members of the original series have stopped by, including Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey. Let’s hope more of the original cast decide to stop in so long-time fans can see amazing cameos throughout the spinoff series.
