Queen Elizabeth has reportedly bonded with her granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton so much that she has no fears about the future of the crown when the wife of Prince William fills her shoes someday.

Queen ‘Feels Confidant’ In Kate

“Over time, Kate has proved to Elizabeth that she can be trusted and they’ve developed a great relationship,” a source told US Weekly. “Elizabeth feels confident that Kate will make a great queen.”

The insider went on to say that while it took Kate a decade to conquer her feelings of being “uneasy in the spotlight,” she is now “fearless” as a public figure who “knows [the protocols] like the back of her hand.” She’s also bonded with the Queen over the past 10 years in a big way.

“During the early days as a royal, being around Elizabeth made her nervous,” the source explained of Kate. “She was so desperate to impress.”

When Prince William becomes king someday, Kate will become the queen consort. She “is slightly nervous” about the major responsibility that comes with this role, but she’s ready to make her mark.

‘She’s Always Up For A Challenge’

“She’s always up for a challenge, believes in herself and feels that she has developed the wisdom, courage and strength to be a success,” the insider said, adding that both Kate and William and Kate have talked to the Queen at length about their future roles. “The Queen feels confident that they cross all the boxes to rule.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also slowly getting their three children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, more involved in royal life.

While they are particularly concerned about their oldest son George, who is set to become king someday himself, they try not to focus on that.

“Of course, William and Kate are nervous about what the future holds for George,” the source said, adding that they are “cautious” about how much they put their children in the spotlight.

‘The Queen Has Great Trust In Kate’

Royal expert Joe Little said that with all the chaos in the Royal Family amidst Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s “Megxit” over the past year, the Queen sees Kate as “a safe pair of hands.”

“The Queen has great trust in Kate,” Little said. “Kate has found her own niche within the royal family.”

The two even share a special affection for taking pictures – they both enjoy getting behind the lens. On World Photography Day, the Royal Family shared images of the Queen behind the camera.

Kate shared images of some of the photographers who participated in her Hold Still Project.
