Everyone has a song they cannot stand to hear. But Garth Brooks‘ daughter, Allie Colleen, says she can’t stand her dad’s most well-known song, “I’ve Got Friends in Low Places.”
Allie Colleen is following her dad and stepmom’s footsteps into the world of country music. Her first studio album, “Work in Progress,” was released on July 10.
As one expects, Allie Colleen is asked a lot of questions about growing up with her ultra-famous dad and his music while out promoting her album.
In an interview with Nashville radio host Bobby Bones, the question of Allie Colleen’s favorite Garth Brooks song came up.
Allie Colleen’s answer surprised Bones when she said Brooks’ “When You Come Back To Me Again,” is her favorite.
“Oh wow, you went for a deeper cut,” Bones replied. To which Allie Colleen laughed and revealed, “What’d you expect me to say? ‘Friends In Low Places’? I hate that song!”
Allie Colleen also says her hatred of the song goes deeper than just hearing the song too often growing up.
“You can only imagine the pick-up lines in high school that come from ‘Friends In Low Places‘,” she said.
Allie Colleen’s career
Stepping into the country music industry as the daughter of Garth Brooks — not to mention the step-daughter of Trisha Yearwood — might come off as choosing the easy career path for Allie Colleen.
However, the 22-year-old deliberately avoided using her last name when she went to Nashville after graduating from college.
When she graduated from Nashville’s Belmont University in 2018, Allie Colleen fulfilled her promise to her dad that she would finish college before embarking on a career in music.
And now, Garth Brooks fully supports his daughter’s efforts. The day Allie Colleen’s first album dropped, Brooks posted about it on Instagram.
“What a beautiful voice on your grandmother’s birthday…perfect. I love you!!” Brooks’ message read in part, along with a photo of him, Trisha, and Allie Colleen.
It’s great to see such a great father-daughter dynamic as Allie Colleen begins her career in music without leaning on her famous last name.
