NBA legend Charles Barkley became the latest celebrity to speak out against cancel culture this week after he was hit with backlash for joking about “big ol’ women in San Antonio.”

Barkley Blasts Cancel Culture

Barkley lashed out at cancel culture in an interview with Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier on 106.7 The Fan in Washington DC.

“The PC people are out overboard right now,” Barkley said, according to Mediaite. “I can’t imagine you guys doing a show every day, how crazy it is for you. Like, it’s gotten so out of hand right now, I couldn’t imagine having to watch myself. You can’t even have fun nowadays without these jackasses trying to get you canceled and things like that.”

“All we ever talk about behind the scenes now is ‘yo man, be careful going in this direction,’ we can’t even have fun anymore,” he continued. “We’ve had fun all these years, and now all of a sudden in the last year and a half, everybody’s trying to get everybody fired and it really sucks.”

Barkley Blames TNT Executives

Charles Barkley went on to blame executives at TNT for ruining all the fun on the show by submitting to cancel culture, going so far as to brand them as “cowards.”

“They won’t even let me talk about San Antonio anymore!” he said. “You know, when I’m always talking about them big ol’ women down in San Antonio?”

Check out a clip of Barkley making that joke in 2016 in the video below.

“I didn’t call anybody personally fat in San Antonio, I was just joking around,” Barkley added as he defended himself this week. “One lady wrote this article, you’re gonna let one lady [ruin the joke] – we’ve been having fun with this for 10, 15 years.”

“One of my favorite phrases is, ‘We agree to disagree.’ I’m not mad. I don’t want you to be mad,” Barkley continued. “We just disagree. But unfortunately, it’s been happening for a couple years now. If people disagree with you they’re going to get fired.”

Barkley’s Joke About Georgia Women

Charles Barkley was also recently hit with backlash when he made fun of women from Georgia.

“Georgia, the only school in the world they named their mascot after the women down there,” he said, referring to the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Cancel culture really has gone too far. It’s certainly putting a damper on things – everyone has to watch what they say very carefully.

Barkley is standing up and speaking out against cancel culture – enough is enough. The trend for some people trying to get others cancelled is only going to get worse.
