Buckingham Palace is keeping a close eye on Prince Harry as he begins his new job. They are making sure that he doesn’t break his agreement with the Queen regarding cashing in on his Royal status. 

It was announced this week that the Duke of Sussex will be Chief Impact Officer at US coaching firm BetterUP.

The company provides online mental health services and coaching to executive clients.

Red Flags For Harry’s New Job

But, Royal insiders and experts see red flags about this situation already. 

“There is the argument that if he is “Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex” in all the published materials for [the firm], is that trading off the royal brand which they said they wouldn’t do to uphold the values of The Queen?’ Royal expert Russell Myers says. “So it is very debatable at the moment. People at the Palace will be watching this very, very closely.”

On the company’s website announcement of Harry’s new role, they use his official title as the Duke of Sussex. “Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, Chief Impact Officer” is his job title at at the $1.7 billion company. 

Given that the Prince is drawing a paycheck using his title in company literature might be an issue with Buckingham Palace.

It is expected his salary is in the six or seven figure range. 

On the company’s website, Harry describes his new role.

“As BetterUp’s first Chief Impact Officer, my goal is to lift up critical dialogues around mental health, build supportive and compassionate communities, and foster an environment for honest and vulnerable conversations. And my hope is to help people develop their inner strength, resilience, and confidence,” the Duke of Sussex wrote.

It’s interesting that he is calling for “honest and vulnerable conversations” the same week he and his wife had to admit they lied to Oprah Winfrey about having a secret wedding .
