Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine just gave an interview in which he suggested that his band plans to send a very liberal message during their halftime performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Liberals are outraged that Maroon 5 is planning to perform at the Super Bowl as they had been calling on musicians to boycott the halftime show due to the fact that no football team has signed race-baiter Colin Kaepernick. In a new interview, Levine tried to assure liberals that there would be a message in his halftime show that they would appreciate.
“I’m not in the right profession if I can’t handle a little bit of controversy. It is what it is, we expected it,” Levine said, according to Daily Mail. “We’d like to move on with it, and like I said earlier, speak through the music.”
Petition calling on Maroon 5 to back out of Super Bowl reaches 113,000+ signatures
This comes after a petition calling on Maroon 5 to drop out of the halftime show in solidarity with NFL players kneeling during the national anthem reached over 113,000 signatures.
“They will be [heard] – that’s all I want to say because I don’t want to spoil anything,” Levine said, referring to the anthem kneelers. “To make people understand, we got you. We got you.”

When asked if the controversy has affected the way that the band will approach the performance, Levine replied, “I could say yes and no, because honestly I think that being in a band and being an artist and publicly appearing and performing, you have to take into account all of the things that are surrounding you, so in that way it’s no different from any other concert.”
It’s incredibly disappointing that Maroon 5 seems to be planning to politicize their Super Bowl performance by sending a liberal message. Why is it that we can’t simply enjoy musical and sporting events these days without being inundated with politics? Events like the Super Bowl are meant to be an escape from the evils of politics. We can only hope that Maroon 5 does not follow through with this and ends up giving a halftime performance that everyone can enjoy, whether they are liberal or conservative.
