– It’s been a while since fans have seen Rusev on SmackDown LIVE, and while the superstar requested some time off, he had some interesting social media posts last week that had many fans raising their eyebrows.
Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer chimed in on Rusev, bring up his current WWE deal, and whether another promotion, NJPW or AEW, could potentially want to snatch him up.

According to Meltzer, Rusev’s WWE contract is set to be up soon, and he stated that he would not be surprised in the Bulgarian Brute left the company; after all, he did recently request a leave of absence. Having said that, if he doesn’t re-sign with the WWE there is chance that they could extend his contract to make up for the days he’s been away.
Whether or not a promotion like New Japan or All Elite would want Rusev, Meltzer seems to think they would. The real question is how much they’d be willing to spend in order to bring him into the fold.
Only time will tell, and WNZ will stay abreast of this story as it unfolds.
– Fans are well aware that there is a list of words that WWE talent and announcers cannot say on television, due to reasons. Seems like a new word has been added, and it we can all probably guess why.
— Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) June 23, 2019
Chris Jericho used the Codebreaker finisher throughout his WWE career, despite the fact that The Judas Effect is what he’s been using as of late. The Codebreaker is also used by indie talents, where the move is still called as such, thanks to the respect these wrestlers have for Y2J. Sadly, this move is no longer referred to by this name in the WWE.
Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer stated that Ricochet has been using Jericho’s move here and there; however, WWE announcers are not call it the Codebreaker, as it is now referred to as the double-knee face-breaker.
While Y2J’s split from the company may have initially been amicable, since he joined AEW, things may have changed a tad. In addition to the Codebreaker no longer being mentioned, Jericho’s face has been taken out of WWE’s intro.
Seems like Y2J has just made the list … the list of WWE banned words that is!
