Royal Rumble Problems

– This year’s Royal Rumble will be remembered for several reasons, including the show running six hours. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE made several audibles as the event went on because the Women’s Rumble Match caused a delay. Apparently, the spots needing to be hit were taking longer than planned and that match took more time than originally thought.

Both Rumbles were decent, with neither likely be regarded as show stealers. The biggest moment of the show was easily the pop Becky Lynch got for entering the Rumble Match and then the one she received after eliminating Charlotte Flair to get the win and title shot at WrestleMania 35.

For fans on the east coast, the pre-show started at 5 PM and and main card began at 7 PM. The evetn concluded only a few minutes before midnight, which caused the WWE Network to not air the show that was set to run from 11 PM to 12 PM. Instead, WWE was rushing through the Men’s Rumble as the replay of the pay per view began at midnight. Hopefully, WrestleMania 35 does not run as long.

– After about 20 years, Halftime Heat will return to WWE this Sunday. During halftime of the Super Bowl, WWE is airing Ricochet, Velveteen Dream & Aleister Black vs. Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano & Adam Cole across several different media platforms after what occurred following Takeover Phoenix.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that the match will air live, but admission is not for the general public. Instead, family of the participants and the WWE Performance Center will sit in the seats. With people very familiar with those involved in the match sitting in attendance, the reaction will be unique.

In the previous times WWE held a Halftime Heat, Mick Foley defeated The Rock in an Empty Arena match to win the WWE Championship in 1999 and the following year Steve Austin spoke about recovering from neck surgery.
