Dean Ambrose, now known under his indie name Jon Moxley, has left the WWE about one month ago. The former WWE superstar did not sit on his laurels though, as he signed with WWE’s biggest rival AEW and made an appearance during Double Or Nothing, the first pay-per-view of the promotion in question.

Dean Ambrose Declares War With “Double” Statements

Even though Jon Moxley did not declare all out war in an official statement, his appearance during Double Or Nothing saw him making some statements towards his former employer that could be interpreted as such. During his appearance, he did a promo and told the crowd he is looking to reclaim his soul and that he is breathing fresh air for the first time in a long time.

“I am alive – my heart is still beating and I am breathing fresh air for the first time in a long time. My name is Jon Moxley, and I am on a mission to reclaim my soul and I know I’m not the only one who thinks that it’s about time this industry got a facelift. So make no mistake about it, this is an official declaration of war tonight to anyone who wants to get in my way and anybody who stands in AEW’s way. We have a mission to knock the pillars of this industry on their a*s, we ain’t reading history books anymore baby, we’re writing them.”

While us reporters tend to read between the lines too much, I do think Dean Ambrose’s statement is very clear. He strongly believes in AEW and what it will do for the wrestling industry.

Double Or Nothing With A Stacked Elite Card

When AEW announced it would only employ elite wrestlers, it certainly was not lying. In fact, the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view was stacked with some of the best indie wrestlers; this included people from AAA and Lucha Underground. The card also included some former WWE superstars; this included Dean Ambrose, Goldust and Chris Jericho. Of course, one cannot forget about stars such as The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega either, which have been the hottest free agents for some time.

Unfortunately for the WWE, I think this is just the beginning where AEW is concerned. A lot of wrestlers on the current roster are starting to look for greener pastures, and those pastures might very well be the ones available at AEW. With the status of Sasha Banks, The Revival, and various mid-card wrestlers in doubt, the coming year should be quite interesting. Are we about to see another Monday Night Wars? Does AEW stand a chance against juggernaut WWE? Time will tell!
