Princess Diana’s brother has claimed that grave robbers have targeted the tomb of the People’s Princess four times since her sudden death twenty years ago.
Earl Spencer is being rather candid about his sister’s death two decades later. The family chose to bury Diana at the Spencer family estate on an island at Athrop to protect her privacy. But, grave robbers still targeted the final resting place of the beloved Princess.
Thankfully, none of the attempts were successful. Spencer credits the remote location for warding off the thieves. “We’ve had four attempted break-ins towards her body in the last 20 years. I’m very glad we’ve seen them all off,” he said.
Spencer also is speaking out about his sister’s funeral. He was very concerned about his young nephews at the time. He knew Diana wouldn’t want them to have a prominent place in the funeral procession as they were children who were grieving the sudden loss of their mother. In the video below, he says he was lied to about Princes William and Harry walking behind the casket. The Palace lied and said the boys wanted to walk.

William and Harry also have been speaking out about their mother’s death and how they are still grieving. These boys were put on display at the funeral procession. This was something that Diana’s family said she clearly would have objected to.
Much has changed at Buckingham Palace. Many believe the Queen has softened quite a bit. It’s hard to imagine she would tolerate having the boys walk behind that casket today.
William and Harry have been openly channeling their grief to try to help other children facing loss. Certainly, the thought of grave robbers can’t make the situation any better.
