Netflix is the one place to go for the best romantic comedies, especially when it comes to book adaptations, like Jenny Han’s To All the Boys series. There’s even news that Callie Hart’s romance novel, Quicksilver, is being worked into an adaptation. But one that you don’t want to miss is People We Meet on Vacation, a romance story by Emily Henry.

News just came out that People We Meet on Vacation will release on Netflix on January 9th, 2026. The story follows routine-follower Alex and footloose and fancy-free Poppy, two unlikely best friends who live miles apart during the year but spend every summer vacation together.
Unfortunately, their friendship ended two years ago after a heated encounter, but they’re desperate to fix their friendship. To do so, Poppy convinces Alexx to take one last summer vacation together to Palm Springs, CA, where Poppy is determined to set things right, even if it means putting all their cards on the table once and for all.
The bestselling romcom is just one of many by Emily Henry, with others including Beach Read, Book Lovers, and Funny Story, which are also being developed into movies.

But that’s not all the exciting news about the movie, as the leads of the movie have already been selected. Tom Blyth, who played young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Snakes and Songbirds, will play homebody Alex, while Emily Bader, who has been playing the titular character in My Lady Jane, will play Poppy.
Henry joined a virtual call with Blyth, Bader, and director Brett Haley to welcome the cast of the project. “I’m so excited, you guys,” Henry told them. ” I have been like kind of anxious wreck about who would play these characters, and I just truly could not feel any more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely, completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex, with you guys playing them.”
Some more casting for People We Meet on Vacation includes Sarah Catherine Hook for Sarah, Jameela Jamil for Swapna, Lucien Laviscount for Trey, Lukas Gage for Buck, Alice Lee for Rachel, Miles Heizer for David, and more.
