New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has turned to God in epic fashion. The professional football player was recently baptized in the Jordan River in Israel.

Beckham said it was the perfect place to be “forgiven” and accept Jesus. He decided to make this commitment to Christ in the Holy Land. “Fresh start,” he commented in a post about his baptism while using the hashtag “#Imforgiven.” The post included several pictures, including some from his baptism in the Jordan River. Beckham got a lot of support from his Instagram followers. One wrote, “All it takes is one encounter with God for him to change your heart….I want you to know brother, your walk and journey is not going to be easy because God never promised it would be, but he did give you a name that’s above all names that you can always call on whenever your journey or your walk with Christ gets rough…”

“When the smoke has cleared and everyone is done cheering your name it will always be you and the Lord!!!!” another Instagram follower wrote. “He will never leave you!!!! I was baptized later in life and I thank Him every day for His glory.”

The football player’s conversion comes at a time when he is being accused of paying a woman $1,000 for sex. The accusation was made by Ishmael Temple, a former friend who is suing Beckham for $15 million and accusing him of assault. Perhaps he is repenting for these sins or maybe the pressure of it all has helped him turn to Jesus.

Beckham isn’t the only well known American to be baptized in the Jordan River this year. Actor Mario Lopez also was baptized there this spring. Lopez was very excited to announce the news that he was being baptized in the same river as Jesus Christ to his Twitter followers.
