Liberals are furious that Ivanka and Melania Trump followed the dress code during their meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican. The pair looked striking dressed in black with accompanying veils.
Vatican dress code says women meeting with the Pope should wear black, long sleeves and a mantilla, which is a lace veil. The daughter and wife of the President looked spectacular when they met Pope Francis as you can see in the video below.

But liberal pundits and the mainstream media aren’t happy. They claim it’s hypocritical for the Trumps to follow Vatican dress code after refusing to wear hijabs in Saudi Arabia.

There is a big difference through.
The hijab is something forced upon all Saudi women. It does represent oppression as there isn’t a choice for those women in the country. The Trump’s refusal to wear one is seen as a sign of solidarity to those women.
The Vatican dress code is western in nature, which is part of our culture. It is just traditional when in a meeting with the Pope. A mantilla was worn in Catholic Churches throughout the world until Vatican II. You can go to the Vatican without wearing a veil. It is not something that is repressive. It’s similar to saying that men need to be wearing pants when having a formal meeting with the Pope.
While at The Vatican, the Trumps also visited the Sistine Chapel. You can see raw video of that below.
The Pope also addressed Melania in Italian. The First Lady who is fluent in five languages had a chuckle with the Pope when they discussed the President’s diet and whether she feeds him Slovenian food.
