The 56-year-old Friends alum shuts down assumptions about her private life in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, which was published on October 8. In the interview, Jennifer Aniston comments on secret struggle that she’s been dealing with for years, shutting down the widespread narrative about why she hasn’t had kids or started a family.
“They didn’t know my story, or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family, because I don’t go out there and tell them my medical woes,” Aniston said. “That’s not anybody’s business.“

“But there comes a point when you can’t not hear it – the narrative about how I won’t have a baby, won’t have a family, because I’m selfish, a workaholic.”
Though Aniston is not new to Hollywood gossip, she admits that assumptions still affect her. “I’m just a human being,” she explained. “We’re all human beings. That’s why I thought, ‘What the hell?'”
Aniston previously told Allure in 2022 about going through the IVF process, “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it.”
“I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.'” Aniston continues, saying that the “ship has sailed”.
Approximately 11% of women in the United States have experienced fertility problems. Globally, the number is around 17%. While the struggle is heart-shattering for many, it’s unfortunately common.

But for Aniston, she admits how much relief she has about the situation now, which might be the reason she was encouraged to speak on it once again in the recent interview. While the iconic actress wasn’t able to get pregnant, she doesn’t regret trying every possible remedy. She emphasized, “I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about that anymore.”
While the gossip is abundant, this is another example of why speculations and assumptions can be harmful. Aniston has even mentioned her concern with the switch of media, as tabloid culture is becoming irrelevant, but social media is becoming less credible.
“So now any schmuck can stay anonymous and write whatever the hell they want to write,” she said. However, “the older I get, the less I care about correcting a narrative, because it will happen eventually. My family knows the truth, my friends know the truth.”
