Tim Allen of Home Improvement and Last Man Standing fame has been working on re-reading the entire Bible, but this time, as an older man, with intention.

Right now, he’s celebrating after he finally completed the Old Testament of the Bible, and he’s officially moved on to the New Testament!

Allen Finishes Reading The Old Testament

“After nearly a year I have finished entire Old Testament and the experience of re-reading, dedicated focus, and no drifting has made this a humbling overwhelming experience,” Allen, 71, wrote on social media. “What a treasure.”

“Three days into New Testament,” he added.

Allen had previously revealed that he was reading the Bible in August of last year. Indeed, he admitted that doing so has been an “amazing” experience.

“Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible,” Allen wrote on social media at the time. “Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. Next up to New Testament.”

“So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting,” he continued.

We bet if you asked your friends and family, many of them would be in the same boat!

Allen’s Journey To Finding God

Allen has long been open about his Christian faith and his journey to finding God. He was only 11 years-old when his father was killed by a drunk driver. This caused Allen to question his faith.

“For years, I just did not like this idea of God, church,” he told ABC News back in 2011. “(I was) still a churchgoer, but constantly a cynic.”

This all changed after Allen was arrested in 1978 with over a pound of cocaine. He subsequently spent two years in prison, where he found God again. Ever since then, Allen has been a proud believer. These days, he refers to God as “The Builder.”

Christianity In The Santa Clauses

In 2022, Allen revealed that he went above and beyond to ensure that his Disney+ series The Santa Clauses incorporated Christianity into it.

“I always do ask … The Builder, what did you want me to do?” Allen told The Wrap. “And I do ask it. But you got to be prepared for the answer. Whoever built me, this is too much, too weird that it happened by accident. It didn’t happen by accident.”

“It originally had a lot of otherworldly characters, and ghosts, and goblins. I said no, this is Christ-mas. It’s Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday,” Allen adamantly added. “We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it. That’s what this is about. If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re gonna have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion.”

Thanks to Allen, multiple episodes of the series included religious elements. Allen confessed that it was “really wonderful” to see this happen, adding that the show “took a chance, and we did it very well.”

The Importance Of ‘Giving’

Allen later stated that The Santa Clauses had a message about how powerful giving to others can be.

“The heart of Christmas is about giving. Getting is what we’ve gotten used to. … But the whole thing is about what it’s like to give,” Allen previously explained. “Give as a father to his children. … It is so [magical].”

There aren’t many Hollywood stars who are openly Christian these days. Bless Allen for using his platform to spread the word of God.

We wish Allen the best of luck reading the New Testament, and we can’t wait to hear how it goes for him!
