Last month, the music mogul and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, was arrested and charged with human trafficking and racketeering.

You knew it was bound to happen: someone as famous as Diddy knows everyone, so there are a lot of questions about who knew what, and when. Not even Taylor Swift is safe from this awkward association.

Swift’s past comments about him are now coming back to haunt her.

Swift’s Past Comments About Diddy

A clip from a 2011 episode of The Rachael Ray Show has resurfaced in which Swift brought up Diddy. In a series of rapid-fire questions, Swift was asked which of her fellow celebrities she would take to prom if she could.

“It would be a group, and it would be a really fun group,” said Swift, who was 21 at the time.

“Boy, you’re going on a freaky prom date,” replied Ray. Maybe even a “freak off”, perhaps?

Swift proceeded to hold up pictures of Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, and Sheryl Crow.

“Why that spectacular array of people?” Ray asked.

“Because … all these different reasons,” Swift replied. “Well, Katy would just be so much fun. She’s just, like, crazy fun, like spontaneous.”

“Diddy’s really always been very nice to me,” she continued. “He would be fun to be in the prom group.”

“He’s a gentleman, isn’t he? He’s a lovely gentleman,” Ray interjected to say.

Given what we know now, that’s surely an eye-brow raising comment.

Social media users have been quick to comment on the clip.

“This aged like milk,” one user wrote. Another added, “Back when we were so naive.”

Diddy’s Arrest

Diddy was arrested on September 16. He was then charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Indeed, the authorities think that Diddy ran a criminal enterprise through his businesses, including Bad Boy Entertainment, Combs Enterprises, and Combs Global, among others. An unsealed indictment alleges that Diddy used “firearms, threats of violence, coercion, and verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse” to fulfill his desires.

Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ever since his arrest. Due to the seriousness of the charges against him, Diddy has been denied bail.

If convicted on all charges, Diddy is facing a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison. His trial date has been set for May 5.

Diddy Claims He’s Innocent

Meanwhile, Diddy has plead not guilty and continues to claim that he is innocent of all the allegations being made against him.

“As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus,” said Diddy’s lawyer Erica Wolff. “That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.”

“He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation,” she continued.

Diddy’s family has also stood by him.

“The past month has devastated our family,” Diddy’s son Quincy Combs wrote on Instagram last week. “Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media.”

“We stand united, supporting you every step of the way,” he added. “We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family….WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.”

After decades of success in entertainment, Diddy has many famous friends. It will certainly be interesting to see if more celebrity comments about Diddy come back to haunt them the way Swift’s did.
