Fans are praying for the father of the pop star Taylor Swift after he suffered a terrifying health scare that forced him to undergo major surgery.
Scott Swift Undergoes Major Surgery
People Magazine has confirmed that Scott Swift, 73, had quintuple bypass surgery just over a month ago. This happened after Scott’s doctor noticed something alarming when he went in for a routine check-up. The surgery was not carried out because of a heart attack.
“Coronary artery bypass surgery creates a new path for blood to go around a blocked or partially blocked artery in the heart,” the Mayo Clinic states.
“The surgery [often] involves taking a healthy blood vessel from the chest or leg area,” the Mayo Clinic adds. “The vessel is connected below the blocked heart artery. The new path improves blood flow to the heart muscle.”
This surgery is extremely complicated, and it can often take several hours to complete. According to the Cleveland Clinic, 72 percent of those who undergo this surgery are men. The average age of those undergoing the surgery is 66. Thankfully, the recovery rate is strong for those who undergo this surgery. Indeed, many report having alleviated symptoms afterwards.

Taylor Is At Her Father’s Side
An insider told Daily Mail that Scott’s recovery has been “fantastic.” Taylor, 35, has been by Scott’s side throughout his recovery along with her younger brother Austin, 33. They have also been joined by their mother Andrea, 67, who has been married to Scott for 37 years.
Taylor has long been incredibly close to her parents. In a 2019 essay for Elle that she titled “30 Things I Learned Before I Turned 30,” Taylor discussed her parents health. She even revealed that “both of my parents have had cancer.”
“I’ve had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family,” Taylor continued. “It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else.”
“I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs,” she added. “I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.”
Andrea was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was later diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2019. Meanwhile, it’s never been revealed to the public what specific form of cancer Scott battled. It’s also not known when Scott’s cancer battle occurred.

Scott Is Taylor’s Biggest Fan
Scott and Andrea have always been Taylor’s biggest fans. Throughout Taylor’s childhood, they drove her to local gigs near their home in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.
“She was always singing music when she was 3, 5, 6, 7, years old,” Scott told UDaily back in 2009. “It’s Taylor doing what she likes to do.”
Last year, Scott and Andrea were often seen at stops on Taylor’s Eras Tour. In August of 2024, video went viral showing Scott handing out chicken tenders to Taylor’s fans at London’s Wembley Stadium.
“Scott handing out chicken during [“Style”] somehow makes sense,” American TikTok user Stephanie Niemiec wrote over the video.
“Thank you for the chicken,” Stephanie said to Scott in the clip. She then turned her phone around and added, “The chicken is fresh.”
Stephanie tagged Taylor in the video’s caption, writing “Tell your dad I said thank you, it was just what I needed.”
