Last month, we reported that Rosie O’Donnell was begging for prayers after her troubled daughter Chelsea was sentenced to prison. Now, insiders close to Rosie are claiming that she has been left “drained” in the wake of her 28 year-old daughter’s downfall.

This comes months after Rosie, 63, fled America and moved to Ireland. She did this in response to Donald Trump becoming president for a second time.

Rosie ‘Tried Everything’

Insiders are alleging that Rosie’s friends in Hollywood are in shock over her simply sending online support to Chelsea from Ireland, rather than returning to America to help her daughter in person. Those who are very close to Rosie, however, are claiming that the comedian believes that she’s done everything she could for Chelsea.

“She’s tried everything,” alleged one longtime confidant of Rosie’s. “Years of rehab bills, interventions, tough love. Rosie’s drained.”

A veteran Hollywood source, however, isn’t having any of this.

“Most parents would be camped outside the prison gate,” that source bluntly stated.

Another friend of Rosie’s feels the same way. Indeed, this friend believes that begging for prayers on Instagram simply isn’t enough.

“Instagram emojis don’t hug you on intake day,” the friend scoffed. “Chelsea doesn’t need likes. She needs her mother.”

Rosie Begs For Prayers

Rosie took to Instagram on October 29 to ask her fans to pray for Chelsea.

“My child chelsea belle – before addiction took over her life – i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed,” Rosie wrote alongside a photo of Chelsea when she was a child. Rosie added the hashtags “#addiction awareness #love #family.”

This came one week after Chelsea had her probation revoked. She was sentenced to prison time on October 22. The Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program declined to comment when contacted about her case.

“I have compassion for those struggling with addiction,” Rosie told People Magazine. “Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”

Chelsea’s History

Chelsea was adopted by Rosie and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter when she was a baby. Between September and December 2024, Chelsea was arrested three times in Wisconsin. In the first of these arrests, Chelsea was hit with multiple felony charges. These included neglecting a child and possession of methamphetamine.

Chelsea posted bail and was released. Just one month later, however, Chelsea was arrested on more felony counts. This time, the charges included bail jumping, resisting or obstructing an officer, and possession of methamphetamine.

After posting bail and being released once again, Chelsea was arrested for a third time in November. On that occasion, her felony charges included possession of methamphetamine, bail jumping and possession of narcotic drugs.

In February of this year, Chelsea pled guilty to resisting or obstructing an officer, felony bail jumping and possession of methamphetamine. When she did this, her misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotic drugs were dismissed.

One month later, Chelsea was sentenced to six years of probation, two years for each of the three guilty counts. Conditions of her probation include absolute sobriety. She also must have no possession of alcohol or another controlled substance without a valid prescription. On top of that, Chelsea could have no contact with any known drug users or sellers and no possession or ownership of any firearm.

Chelsea Violates Terms Of Her Probation

Chelsea was specifically told that if she violated any of the terms of her probation, she would be facing prison time. An official with the drug treatment court told US Weekly that Chelsea was in violation due to sexual assault allegations. The official added that Chelsea had not shown enough progress in her drug treatment program.

“The facts surrounding this request have been staffed with the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Team and have been deemed sufficient grounds to warrant termination from the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program,” reads the official court filing.

Chelsea has reportedly been in custody since September 9. She is set to be transferred to the Taycheedah Correctional Institution, a medium-security prison in Wisconsin. It’s unclear at this time exactly how long Chelsea will be spending behind bars.

Chelsea is the mother of four children ranging in the ages 2-6. She is also one of Rosie’s five children, all of whom were adopted.

Chelsea is clearly a very troubled young woman who could use some support from her mother. Only time will tell if Rosie decides if it’s worth it to return to America from Ireland to help her daughter when she needs it most!
