Rosie O’Donnell is begging her fans to pray after her troubled daughter Chelsea was sentenced to prison.
‘Prayers Welcomed…’
Rosie, 63, took to Instagram on Wednesday to post an old photo of Chelsea, now 28. The photo shows Chelsea as a small child wearing a pink and red striped turtleneck underneath a pink sweater.
“My child chelsea belle – before addiction took over her life,” Rosie wrote in the caption. “I loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed.
“#addiction awareness #love #family,” Rosie added.
This came one week after Chelsea had her probation revoked. She was sentenced to prison time on October 22. The Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program declined to comment when contacted about her case.
“I have compassion for those struggling with addiction,” Rosie told People Magazine. “Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”
Chelsea’s Arrests
Chelsea was adopted by Rosie and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter when she was a baby. Between September and December 2024, Chelsea was arrested three times in Wisconsin. In the first of these arrests, Chelsea was hit with multiple felony charges. These included neglecting a child and possession of methamphetamine.
Chelsea posted bail and was released. Just one month later, however, Chelsea was arrested on more felony counts. This time, the charges included bail jumping, resisting or obstructing an officer, and possession of methamphetamine.
After posting bail and being released once again, Chelsea was arrested for a third time in November. On that occasion, her felony charges included possession of methamphetamine, bail jumping and possession of narcotic drugs.
Chelsea Learns Her Fate
In February of this year, Chelsea pled guilty to resisting or obstructing an officer, felony bail jumping and possession of methamphetamine. When she did this, her misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotic drugs were dismissed.
One month later, Chelsea was sentenced to six years of probation, two years for each of the three guilty counts. Conditions of her probation include absolute sobriety. She also must have no possession of alcohol or another controlled substance without a valid prescription. On top of that, Chelsea could have no contact with any known drug users or sellers and no possession or ownership of any firearm.
Chelsea was specifically told that if she violated any of the terms of her probation, she would be facing prison time. An official with the drug treatment court told US Weekly that Chelsea was in violation due to sexual assault allegations. The official added that Chelsea had not shown enough progress in her drug treatment program.
“The facts surrounding this request have been staffed with the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Team and have been deemed sufficient grounds to warrant termination from the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program,” reads the official court filing.
Chelsea In Custody – Rosie Flees America
Chelsea has reportedly been in custody since September 9. She is set to be transferred to the Taycheedah Correctional Institution, a medium-security prison in Wisconsin. It’s unclear exactly how long she’ll be behind bars.
Chelsea is the mother of four children ranging in the ages 2-6. She is also one of Rosie’s five children, all of whom were adopted.
If Chelsea is hoping to get some help from her mother Rosie, that may not be an easy task. Indeed, Rosie fled the country after Donald Trump won his second presidential election. She has since settled in Ireland with her youngest child Clay, 12.
While Chelsea grew up in wealth, having Rosie as a mother could not have been easy. Though we aren’t fans of Rosie, we can certainly have compassion for a troubled young mother of four. Please join us in saying a prayer for Chelsea O’Donnell as she begins her prison sentence!
