Last week, we reported that Rosie O’Donnell had fled the United States to move to Ireland. Now, it appears that O’Donnell might be having second thoughts. Indeed, O’Donnell is admitting that living outside of the U.S. is “not easy.”
O’Donnell Sounds Off
O’Donnell, 62, took to TikTok on Thursday to post a video in which she opened up about what leaving America has really been like for her.
“It’s not easy to move to another country, and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do,” she said. “I feel healthier, I’m sleeping better without the stress and anxiety over what was happening politically in the country.”
O’Donnell went on to say that she simply couldn’t handle a second Donald Trump presidency.
“I knew that it would really tax me emotionally to have to do that,” she said of living in the U.S. during his second term. “So I’m very happy that we made the decision that we made.”

O’Donnell’s Previous Comments On Her Move
Earlier this month, O’Donnell revealed that she moved to Ireland with her 12 year-old daughter Dakota on January 15.
“It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming,” O’Donnell said in a separate video posted to TikTok. “And I’m very grateful.”
O’Donnell went on to say that she is “in the process” of getting Irish citizenship. This shouldn’t be too difficult for her, as her grandparents hail from Ireland.
“I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child,” she explained. “And here we are.”
O’Donnell also has four adult children who have remained in the United States. Despite this, O’Donnell appears to have no regrets about leaving them behind and moving abroad with her youngest.
“You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids, I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country,” she stated, going on to indicate that the political situation in the U.S. may have had something to do with her move. O’Donnell didn’t elaborate much on this, however, instead making a few vague statements.

Ellen DeGeneres Also Flees America
O’Donnell isn’t the only celebrity to flee the U.S. as of late. Back in November, we reported that O’Donnell’s fellow comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, 67, had also left the U.S. to move to England. She moved there with her actress wife Portia de Rossi of Arrested Development fame.
“Make no mistake about it. This is Ellen and Portia’s retirement,” a source close to the couple told Daily Mail at the time. “Neither one of them have any projects lined up.”
Judging by her latest video, however, it appears that O’Donnell is learning the hard way that life outside of America isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. It will certainly be interesting to see if she ever ends up coming back to the U.S.!
