The country music legend Reba McEntire, 69, is preparing to celebrate Christmas with her boyfriend Rex Linn, who she’s been dating for almost four years.
In a new interview, McEntire is revealing the unusual but surprisingly relatable way that she and Linn plan to celebrate this holiday.
McEntire’s Christmas Plans
“Rex and I will go see a movie,” McEntire told E! News. “We have our Christmas on Christmas Eve and he likes to go see movies, so we’ll do that first thing in the morning before the crowds hit the theaters, then we’ll come back and we’ll have our meals.”
“You noticed I said ‘meals,’ because we’ll have lunch and supper and probably a midnight snack,” she added with a laugh. “That will be our tradition.”
While celebrating on Christmas Eve is common in some parts of Europe, it’s a little unusual for America.
As for the movie that they plan to see, it will be The Fire Inside. This film tells the story of Claressa “T-Rex” Shields, who trained to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport of boxing.
In this same interview, McEntire opened up about her bond with Linn. Though they only started dating in 2020, they’ve known each other for decades.
“We met working,” she explained. “Rex and I met on The Gambler movie in ’91, so we’re used to working together and also being together as partners and buddies and lovers. It just works out.”

McEntire And Linn Star On Happy’s Place
These days, McEntire and Linn are co-stars on their NBC sitcom Happy’s Place.
“You better like ’em—all the time,” McEntire said with a laugh when asked how they both work and live together. “It’s 24/7, so I do like him a lot.“
McEntire has long been open about how much she loves Linn.
“I think we have made each other better. Rex brings out the little girl in me and I have fun,” McEntire told US Weekly back in October. “I’m dorky, I’m goofy. He is too. We love to laugh, and we love each other. We both love watching television. We’re always on the lookout for a new series or movie to watch. He says that it’s his homework, watching other actors and learning from them. I do it for pure enjoyment. Right now we’re streaming The Penguin.“
“I have his back, and he has mine,” she added. “That’s very important. I feel very safe with Rex.”
McEntire’s History
This comes after McEntire’s first two marriages ended in divorce. She was previously married to the cattle rancher Charlie Battles from 1976 until 1987. McEntire was then married to the producer and manager Narvel Blackstock from 1989 until they divorced in 2015.
Despite her love for Linn, McEntire is in no rush to walk down the aisle again after those two divorces.
“It really makes no difference to me,” she admitted. “I’m fine with the way we are. If Rex ever wants to get married, then we’ll talk about it, but I’m fine. I love our relationship 100 percent.”
After all that McEntire has been through, it’s so nice to see her find love again. We’d like to wish her and Linn a very merry Christmas, and many years of happiness together to come!
