Last month, we reported that the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp, the daughter of the legendary musician John Mellencamp, had announced that doctors had discovered that she has four more brain tumors. This came two months after we reported that the 43 year-old reality TV star had been diagnosed with multiple brain tumors.
On Wednesday, it came as great news to Teddi’s fans when she took to Instagram to announce some “very exciting news” about her cancer battle.
Teddi’s ‘Very Exciting’ News
“Honestly, the crying is already done, but I just finished with all of my scans and my tumors have significantly shrunk, which doctors believe means that this all will work and that I will be back to myself and feeling good,” Teddi said in an emotional video.
Teddi went on to say that after her two remaining sessions of immunotherapy, “hopefully I am done and I will be cancer-free.”
“I’m going to keep a positive outlook because that’s the way my doctor just spoke to me. He’s like, ‘You did this, you got this,’ “ she continued, adding in a gruff mimic of his voice: “‘You got that Mellencamp blood, so you’re good.”
This came as a huge relief, as doctors had previously given Teddi just a 50% chance of surviving.
“I really like to have control, and this is completely out of my control,” she admitted. “And for the first time, I’m really scared.”
That being said, in the caption of her video, Teddi wrote, “All tumors stage 4 (metastasized melanoma in my brain and lungs) shrunk or disappeared so I have 6ish more weeks of immunotherapy and doctors believe I will be healed if everything stays on course.”
“Thank you to everyone who has sent their love, prayers, and positivity ❤️❤️❤️,” she concluded.

‘I’m Fighting For My Life’
Teddi is the mother of three young children. Indeed, she and her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, 37, are parents to Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and Dove, 5.
“I’m fighting for my life,” Teddi told US Weekly last month. “But also for my family’s life and all the people I love.”
Throughout this difficult time, Teddi’s famous musician father John, 73, has been calling to check in on her every day.
“Some days, I’m not in the mood. I don’t want a pep talk,” Teddi admitted. “[I tell him], ‘I’ll talk to you tomorrow. I’ll be more pep talk-ready, but I love you.’”
John was just 36 years-old when he suffered a heart attack that nearly killed him. This has allowed him to give his daughter some powerful advice as she fights for her own life.
“I remember his life completely changing,” Teddi said. “And some of the moments [when] I felt really scared, I was like, ‘Hold on. I’m not changing everything about my life. I want more things. I want to keep building.’”
“But he’s like, ‘There are moments where you emotionally won’t be able to control how you’re feeling because of a certain medication or a certain whatever. And you have to give yourself some grace and know this isn’t you sometimes. And that’s OK,'” she added.
Teddi Learns Her Fate
Teddi concluded by revealing when exactly she’ll learn her fate when it comes to her cancer battle.
“I find out for sure exactly where we stand on June 1,” Teddi concluded. “If you need to do another round, if there’s any other surgery, if it’s the end. It’s a hard pill to swallow.”
