Last week, we reported that the culinary media personality Rachael Ray had admitted to engaging in “huge screaming matches” with her husband John Cusimano, who she’s been married to since 2005. It’s been a rough time for Ray.

This came one month after fears spread about Ray’s health when she posted a video to social media in which she appeared to be “slurring” her words and suffering from facial drooping.

Now, Ray is admitting to needing “space” from her husband as “sad things” are happening to her.

Ray Opens Up About ‘Sad’ And ‘Bad’ Things In Life

In the latest episode of her podcast I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, Ray opened up about how things sometimes just don’t work out in life. Sometimes, big things.

“That’s the beauty of life,” said Ray, 56. “You have to learn, and I think this is a big talking point for living a long life and having a long life and having a career is you have to learn to understand when things are sad. And what everything means ultimately to your choices.”

“Not everything that feels bad is bad,” she continued. “Sometimes things that happen to you that from the outside look sad, they also help you propel forward and understand other people.”

She makes an excellent point. Sometimes, pain is required for growth and progress.

Ray did not elaborate on what specifically could “feel bad” or “look sad” in her life right now. She went on to say that she and her husband sometimes need time apart.

“I am wildly, wildly lucky that I have my husband. But he understands I need my space,” she admitted. “He needs his space. John and I largely stay in separate corners.”

Ray’s Interview With Billy Crudup

Ray revealed this while interviewing the actor Billy Crudup about his marriage to his fellow Hollywood star Naomi Watts.

“You guys are both wildly successful actors,” Ray stated. “How do you guys work that out? Do you consider and test material on her when you’re learning a part and vice versa, or do you just, like, stay in separate corners? John and I largely stay in separate corners.”

Crudup, who has been married to Watts for one year, responded by saying that the unpredictability of creative work is “not for everybody.”

“That lack of predictability and a bit of the carnival life and a little bit of rock and roll can sometimes be exhausting to the point that you’re not properly taking care of yourself,” he said. “And the fact is, if you want to be a part of this, you have to surround yourself with enough people who can both promote you, encourage your way of doing it, and help to protect you. And that is a lot to ask.”

“And the fact is, Naomi and I have both been around for a while, so we have some level of appreciation about how to help manage one another,” he continued. “And we also are both really interested in acting, so we do talk about stuff.”

Ray’s ‘Huge Screaming Matches’ With Her Husband

This came one week after Ray opened up about the “huge screaming matches” that she has with her husband.

“It’s very hard, especially for hot-tempered or creative or vociferous loud people to be able to just calm it down,” she said. “John and I don’t calm it down ever. We have huge screaming matches all the time, but I think that’s healthy. I really do. And I don’t trust people that are too quiet.”

“Too quiet freaks me out,” Ray added. “I prefer that you tell me what you think when you think it and let’s just get it all out there.”

Fears For Ray’s Health

Last month, video went viral in which Ray appeared to be slurring her words and drooping her face. Fans were quick to express their concern about it.

“Is she slurring or am I slurring,” one fan commented. Another added, “I love you but are you ok? I’m seriously concerned.”

“Rachel is in a bit of trouble?! I hope someone is just as concerned as I am?” a third fan wrote. A fourth person questioned, “What the heck is wrong with her? Messy hair, slurring words….wow just wow …”
