Last month, we reported that fears were growing for the health of the cooking sensation and talk show host Rachael Ray, 56, after she posted a video to social media in which she appeared to be slurring her words.
Now, Ray is back and better than ever, ready to launch a new podcast that she’s calling I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.
Ray’s New Podcast
“I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead (quite literally!) is about life’s journeys and what keeps us going,” Ray told People Magazine.
“It’s unscripted, raw, and real talk,” she added. “Working fuels me, connecting with people fuels me, and this platform allows for connection and conversation on a more personal level, which really fuels me.”
Bottom line: she’s fueled up!
Each episode will feature Ray sitting down with a celebrity guest to make a “melting pot” of modern insight and conversations with “no topic off limits.”
The first episode is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 22. Ray will talk to the former Angel actress Jenny Mollen about love, marriage, and “having no filter.”

Future Episodes
Then, on October 29, Ray will sit down with The Morning Show actor Billy Crudup. Other celebrity guests that are lined up for later episodes include Bob Harper, Anne Burrell, Harlan Coben, Jacques Pepin, Jeremy Sisto, and Billy Porter.
“I want to know what drives people I admire — what drives them, what makes them so happy to work extra hard,” she says in a trailer for the podcast. “I think there’s a lot of valuable lessons in that.”
Ray ended her eponymous syndicated talk show in May of 2023 after seventeen seasons. In January of this year, Ray spoke out to admit that she is “not really good with downtime.”
“I love to work…I love to have my brain very active, and if I’m not writing shows, I’m drawing ‘foodles’ I call them — recipes on paper — and writing books and things,” she explained. “I don’t like being idle. I’ve never been good at it.”

Fears For Ray’s Health
Last month, concerns were raised for Ray’s health. The cause of concern was an Instagram post paying tribute to the late singer Tony Bennett, who died in July of last year. Indeed, fans were disturbed to see that Ray appeared to be slurring her words and one side of her face seemed to droop.
Check out the video for yourself below.
“OMG someone get this woman help!” one social media user commented. “She looks and acts like she has been drinking all the time. I love Racheal but she’s do hard to watch like this.”
“One corner of her mouth is much lower than the other,” another user added. “The nurse in me would have her go into be checked for any side effect from a stroke or Bell’s palsy. Please make sure to get checked? Life is just too short!”
Ray never spoke out to give any kind of explanation for the video. Her rep would only say “no comment” when asked about the controversy. Despite the backlash that she received for it, the video remains on Ray’s Instagram page to this day.
It seems that Ray is eager to put all of this behind her and move on with this podcast. It will certainly be interesting to see how this turns out for her!
