Yesterday, we reported that the cooking sensation and television personality Rachael Ray, 56, had sparked fears for her health after she appeared to slur her words in a bizarre video.
Now, Ray is addressing what happened. Sort of.
Ray Breaks Her Silence
Ray’s representative told TMZ that she had “no comment” about the controversy. Ray herself then attempted to move on by posting her old recipe for shrimp and chorizo paella, which includes a half cup of dry sherry or white wine.
Though Ray did not speak in the post, her hand could be seen, as could her delicious homemade paella.
“Break out the cast iron! It’s time to put a little pep in Wednesday night’s dinner step with a shrimp and chorizo paella party,” Ray wrote in the caption.
It seems that Ray is choosing to ignore any questions about her health and wellbeing. Over the past month, fans have become increasingly concerned about Ray after she seemed to be slurring her words in multiple videos.

Ray Slurs Words In Video – Fans Respond
This escalated on Monday night, when Ray posted her most disturbing video yet. In it, she recalled the time she “almost killed” the late singer Tony Bennett, who died in July of last year.
“When I pulled out the chair for Tony to sit down for his starter snacks and aperitivo, the chair slid out from under him and he hit his head on my marble counter behind him, and he fell to the floor,” Ray recalled.
“I thought I killed Tony Bennett. I thought I killed him, literally,” she continued. “And his wife, Susan – so glorious – she says to me, ‘Rachael, he’s fine. He’ll pop back up. Just let him be.’ He made it all through dinner. I miss my friend so much. The most beautiful man, maybe ever.”

Fans went into panic mode in the comments section of the video, with some blaming Bell’s palsy or a mini-stroke. Many commenters, however, speculated that alcohol could be the culprit.
“Drinking during filming!” one fan commented, with another adding, “Come on girl someone needs to sit you down and say something! Shame on them!”
“I love her and yes, she’s drunk,” a third person commented. A fourth person wrote, “She looks and acts like she has been drinking all the time. I love Racheal but she’s [too] hard to watch like this.”

Nurse Weighs In
A 66 year-old retired nurse from Boston, however, thinks something else could be to blame.
“One corner of her mouth is much lower than the other,” she explained. “The nurse in me would have her go into be checked for any side effect from a stroke or Bell’s palsy. Please make sure to get checked? Life is just too short!”
Ray is known to have undergone vocal cord surgery back in 2008. Last year, she ended her eponymous talk show, which had run for 17 seasons from 2006-2023.
We can only hope that Ray knows that much of the concern for her wellbeing is coming from a good place. Please join us in saying a prayer for her and her health!
