Over the past few months, fears have grown for the health of the television personality Rachael Ray. This all started back in September, when she posted a bizarre video in which she appeared to be slurring her words and exhibiting facial droop.
Now, the 56 year-old culinary star is opening up about the “disaster” that changed her life forever in 2020.
Ray’s Devastating ‘Disaster’
Ray is currently promoting her television series Rachael Ray’s Rebuild. Though it quietly premiered on Hulu last year, it’s now making its way to cable television with a run on A&E. The show features Ray helping families rebuild their homes after the properties are damaged by devastating disasters like fires, floods, and tornados.
This show is personal for Ray, as her home on Lake Luzerne in New York burned to the ground back in 2020. It seems that Ray may never have been the same in the wake of this tragedy.
“I can say from personal experience when disaster strikes your home, your life changes forever,” a visibly emotional Ray said in the show’s trailer. “I wanna help people rebuild their homes and their lives.”

Fans Show Ray Some Love
“I’m teaming up with my amazing friend @carrinoanthony and the incredible @freefoodstudios team to help families recover after devastating losses–homes destroyed by weather, fires, and more,” Ray added in the caption on Instagram. “Together, we’re not just rebuilding houses we’re creating hope, healing, and forever homes ✨.”
Fans took to the comments section to show their support for Ray.
“This is what incredibly generous and heartwarming to see,” one fan wrote. “I was in an apartment fire and left with the clothes on my back and my cat (who is feral and I never picked up before) clutched to my chest. I wasn’t leaving without him.”
“[Ray] needs more credit in this world,” another social media user commented. “Completely self made, never has gotten arrogant, continues to give back in every way possible, and genuinely makes the world a better place. The true definition of beautiful inside and out.”
“We need more of this in the world,” a third fan added. A fourth person wrote, “You are truly a beautiful humble person, we need more blessings like you!”
Ray’s House Burns Down
Fans were shocked when Ray revealed on her eponymous cooking show back in 2020 that her house had burned down.
“On August 9th, my house burned,” she said at the time. “Fifteen years of memories; 40 years of notebooks, drawings, thoughts, my life’s work. It took about one hour for this house to come down — and in my mind, it took decades before it was even built.”
“In the years that I lived here, I learned an awful lot. In the few weeks since it burned, I think I’ve learned even more,” she continued. “Today, we’re going to share what’s left of our home with you.”

Fears For Ray’s Health
This comes after months of fears over Ray’s health. It all started back in September, when she took to Instagram to post a video honoring the late singer Tony Bennett.
Fans responded by saying that Ray was “slurring” her speech in the video. Some questioned if she was drunk, while others thought she might be on a medication or suffering from a health condition.
“Is she slurring or am I slurring,” one fan commented. Another added, “I love you but are you ok? I’m seriously concerned.”
“Rachel is in a bit of trouble?! I hope someone is just as concerned as I am?” a third fan wrote. A fourth person questioned, “What the heck is wrong with her? Messy hair, slurring words….wow just wow …”

Ray Discusses ‘Sad Things That Happen To You’
One month later, Ray cryptically spoke out to dsicuss “sad things that happen to you.”
“That’s the beauty of life,” she said. “You have to learn, and I think this is a big talking point for living a long life and having a long life and having a career, is you have to learn to understand when things are sad and what everything means ultimately to your choices.”
“Not everything that feels bad is bad,” Ray continued. “Sometimes things that happen to you that from the outside look sad, they also help you propel forward and understand other people.”
This has clearly been a very difficult few years for Ray. Please join us in saying a prayer for her!
