Prince William and his estranged younger brother Prince Harry have been hit with yet another tragedy as their 20 year-old cousin Rosie Roche has been found dead.
William And Harry’s Cousin Dead At 20
Rosie was the granddaughter of the late Princess Diana’s uncle. She was found dead by her mother Pippa and sister Agatha at their family home in Norton, near Malmesbury, Wilts on July 14. Rosie had last been seen packing to go away with friends.
It was later revealed at an inquest that a firearm was found near Rosie’s body.
During the inquest, local coroner Grant Davies revealed that Rosie died of a “traumatic head injury,” according to Daily Mail.
“Rosie was getting ready to go away with friends and was packing her belongings at home,” Grant said. “Upon checking the office in the house, Agatha found Rosie deceased and she was slumped over a firearm with significant head trauma.”
The coroner then said that police “have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement.” The inquest was subsequently adjourned until October 25.
“This relates to the sudden death of a woman in her 20s,” Wilshire police said in a statement. “There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with her family.”
“We would ask that their privacy is respected at this terrible time,” the police continued.

Rosie’s Schools Pay Tribute To Her
Rosie had been a student at Durham University, where she was studying English Literature.
“University College staff and students are extremely saddened by the tragic death of Rosie Roche,” Professor Wendy Powers, Principal of Durham’s University College, told The Sun.
“Rosie was a first-year student studying for an English Literature degree. Rosie had settled into the University and College beautifully and had lots of friends,” she continued. “Our thoughts and condolences are with Rosie’s family and friends, and we are offering support to those affected at this extremely difficult time.”
Before going to college, Rosie attended St Mary’s Calne. Indeed, this is a girls’ independent boarding and day school in Wiltshire.
“Rosie was a cherished member of our community, and she will be remembered with great affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her,” that school wrote in a statement.
“When we return for the new term, we will hold a time of reflection in her memory to honour her life and the wonderful impact she had on those around her,” the statement added.
Rosie’s Family Breaks Their Silence
Rosie’s family also honored her in a brief obituary.
“Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke. Died on Monday 14th July 2025,” the family said. “Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long.”
“”Private family funeral,” they later added. “A memorial service will be held at a later date.”
Rosie was the child of (Edmund) Hugh Burke Roche, 53, and his wife the former Phillipa Kate Victoria Long. She was the granddaughter of the 5th Baron Fermoy, Princess Diana’s uncle, who shot himself dead in 1984. He was 45 years-old at the time.
Meanwhile, William and Harry have yet to comment publicly on the death of their cousin. They are certainly no strangers to family tragedies, as their mother Diana sadly died in a car crash back in 1997 at the age of 36.
This is unquestionably an incredibly tragic situation for everyone involved. Please join us in saying a prayer for Rosie’s family and friends as they mourn her.
