It’s been five years since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised. The couple remains there to this day with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet.
Now, a royal expert is speaking out to claim that Harry, 40, finally has “some regrets.” Indeed, as Meghan’s star rises in her home country, Harry is still struggling to find his way.
Harry’s Alleged ‘Regrets’
“[Harry] is in exile,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News. “Undoubtedly, he has some regrets. He appears to have lost touch with many of his friends and, of course, there is the royal rift.”
“In recent months, it has been [his wife] Meghan [Markle] who has fronted things,” he continued. “Her launch of lifestyle products has been backed by Netflix… Harry has picked up a couple of awards, but the fact that 76,000 signed a petition when he received the Pat Tillman Award was a warning that many Americans view the couple with disdain.”
This comes after the royal historian Marlene Koenig made similar comments to Us Weekly last month.
“I’m not sure if Harry has regrets about leaving as he is determined to build a new life in the U.S.,” Koenig said. “But he hasn’t been entirely successful, especially in terms of earning money for the family. That seems to have fallen on Meghan.”
Koenig went on to explain that the “struggle” for Harry has been trying to find his place in America with a royal title while simultaneously “trying to be a breadwinner” for his family with Meghan, 43.
“He was always expected to play a supportive but not a supporting role,” Koenig explained. “He may be comfortable in his California home with his wife and two adorable children, but what he hasn’t found yet is the comfort of a success outside at home.”
Harry Is ‘Homesick’ For England
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich agreed with both Fitzwilliams and Koenig.
“Prince Harry’s life is characterized by frustration, lack of clear achievement and his persistent struggle to carve out anything either lucrative or fulfilling,” Fordwich said.
Fordwich alleged that while Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever continues to grow, Harry is more desperate than ever to score a major role in California.
“Nothing he has done has delivered any long-term satisfaction, independence, or been met with any universal support, or he would have stuck with it,” she added. “His popularity has plummeted in the polls on both sides of the Atlantic.”
“Those who know him report he’s homesick and feels out of place in California,” Fordwich claimed. “His social circle in California is limited further, making him miss his old friends, who avoid visiting him, as well as his military connections.”
Harry Estranged From Royals As Meghan Thrives
Harry has been estranged from his family for years now. This comes after he repeatedly bashed the British royals in interviews and in his tell-all memoir “Spare.” Koenig alleged that Harry and his brother Prince William are “separated by more than an ocean” these days. As William prepares to be King someday, he reportedly wants nothing to do with Harry.
“One brother has found his role and knows what he has to do to prepare for his future,” Koenig lamented. “The other brother has yet to find the right balance for a successful career away from what he was raised to be.”

Meanwhile, Meghan seems to be loving life in her home state of California. She spent years trying to make it as an actress there. Now, she lives in a multi-million dollar mansion in the ritzy area of Montecito. Royal commentator Amanda Matta said that Meghan seems to be “focused” on her “ventures and identity outside the royal bubble.”
After everything that has happened in his life in recent years, we can certainly see why Harry would have “some regrets.” Only time will tell if Prince Harry actually ends up staying in America forever!
