The singer Miley Cyrus was left humiliated on Friday when she was heckled at her own movie premiere in New York City.
Cyrus Heckled By Her Fans
During the Tribeca Film Festival, Cyrus, 32, premiered her new film Something Beautiful, which is meant to accompany her album of the same name, at the Beacon Theatre. Unfortunately for Cyrus, however, it didn’t take long for this to go off the rails due to a misunderstanding with her fans.
Things began to go downhill when Cyrus took the stage to participate in a Q&A with producer Panos Cosmatos and co-directors and co-writers Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. It was then that audience members began screaming at Cyrus, demanding that she perform for them.
“We paid $800. Sing!” one attendee yelled. Another shouted, “We thought this was a concert!”
Cyrus looked shocked as her own fans began to turn on her. Finally, a visibly flustered Cyrus tried to appease them by singing an impromptu a cappella rendition of her 2009 hit song “The Climb.”

Cyrus’ Other Fans Defend Her
Cyrus’ other fans were quick to defend her on social media after the above clip went viral.
“She’s so nice and patient. Those ‘fans’ are soooo rude and entitled. They should be ashamed,” one social media user commented. Another added, “She owes these people nothing. She handled this with such class and grace. Shame on them.”
“Maybe do your research before attending then,” a third user wrote. “She’s not an object, you don’t demand someone to sing.”
Something Beautiful is Cyrus’ ninth studio album. The accompanying visual film is set to hit theaters on Thursday, June 12.
Cyrus’ previous releases include Meet Miley Cyrus (2007), Breakout (2008), Can’t Be Tamed (2010), Bangerz (2013), Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), Younger Now (2017), Plastic Hearts (2020) and Endless Summer Vacation (2023).
Cyrus’ Shocking Admission
While promoting Something Beautiful, Cyrus shocked her fans by making a surprising admission about her past. Indeed, she opened up about how she kept her past drug purchases hidden from her accountant.
“The drugs were the biggest cost, which to hide those from my accountant, we called them vintage clothes,” Cyrus, who is now sober, revealed while appearing on The Ringer’s Every Single Album podcast on Friday.
“And so she would get these checks,” she continued. “That happens on touring all the time.”
Cyrus went on to admit that her accountant would wonder about the “vintage clothes” costs. This forced Cyrus to come up with excuses to her questions too.
“Every time she saw me, she’d be like, ‘Where’s that, like, $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?'” she recalled. “It’s like, ‘Oh, it’s upstairs.'”
“‘We just really want to protect it, It’s really delicate. The fabric, we got to take care of it,'” Cyrus recounted. “So I bought a lot of vintage clothes that year.”
While it’s unfortunate that Cyrus was heckled at her own film premiere, she certainly handled the situation like a pro. Here’s hoping that Cyrus’ fans give her a bit more grace in the future!
