The former First Lady Michelle Obama just got publicly shut down by President Donald Trump after she whined about the renovations that he did to the East Wing of the White House. This comes at a difficult time for Michelle, as she’s being plagued by rampant rumors that she’s divorcing Barack Obama after 33 years of marriage.
Michelle Whines About East Wing
Michelle, 61, lost it when Trump demolished the East Wing last month so that he could renovate it. She spoke out afterwards to claim that this move “denigrate[s]” the East Wing, where the First Lady’s office was located. Michelle lamented that it was where the “heart” of her work took place.
“When we talk about the East Wing, it is the heart of the work [of a First Lady],” Michelle told Vanity Fair. “And to denigrate it, to tear it down, to pretend like it doesn’t matter, it’s a reflection of how you think of that role.”
Michelle later doubled down on this in an interview the TODAY show.
“There’s no guidebook,” Michelle complained of how difficult it is to be First Lady. “There’s barely a staff. Now we don’t have a building.”
While being interviewed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Michelle dramatically opined that East Wing was “where life happened.”
“The West Wing was work. Sometimes it was sadness, it was problems, it was the guts of the White House,” she explained. “The East Wing was where you felt light. That’s where children came. We had puppies.”
Puppies?! Give us a break, Michelle!
Trump Fires Back
President Trump, however, was not having any of it. Indeed, he fired back this week by telling the Fox News host Laura Ingraham that the ballroom replacing the East Wing will be “one of the greatest” in the world.
“The East Wing is being spent by private donors. It’s a $250, $300 million building,” Trump said. “It’s going to be the most beautiful anywhere in the world.”
“They had an event [at the White House] the other day,” he continued. “With tables, they could hold 79 people. Now, if you have President Xi from China, or if you have some big state event, we have no place to have it. You know what they did? …They will put a tent on the lawn. It was a low section because that’s the only section you have… If it rained, you were sitting in six inches of water. It was a disaster.”
As for Michelle’s claims that the East Wing had historical value, Trump pointed out that it had been renovated many times before.
“That building was renovated 20 times, including adding a floor to the top, which was terrible,” Trump said.
“It looked like hell,” the president concluded. “It had nothing to do with the original building, and I didn’t want to sacrifice a great ballroom for an okay ballroom by leaving it right smack in the middle.”
Boom! It’s safe to say that Michelle just learned the hard way that when you hit Trump, he punches back twice as hard.
Obama Divorce Rumors
This comes at a difficult time for Michelle, as she and her husband Barack have been plagued by rampant divorce rumors for years.
These divorce rumors escalated in a big way back in January, when Michelle skipped both the funeral of Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump. She was the only living former First Lady to miss each of these events. This forced Barack to attend both events alone.
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast earlier this year. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”
“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she continued.
“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Tara, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”

Michelle Accused Of ‘Really Disliking’ Barack
Michelle launched her IMO podcast back in March. Since then, Michelle has used it to bash Barack and air his dirty laundry seemingly every chance she gets.
In fact, Michelle has complained about Barack so many times on her podcast that the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently claimed that the former First Lady “really dislikes her husband, and it’s super obvious.”
“I’m not just saying that to be catty,” Tucker explained. “I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”
Tucker’s fellow former Fox News host Megyn Kelly was quick to agree. She pointed out that “everything Michelle says about her husband is negative.”
“I almost never say negative things about Doug,” Megyn added, referring to her own husband Doug Brunt. “He’s not perfect but when I think about him, I don’t immediately go to whatever is negative. I go to what’s positive and what I love about him.”

The Obamas Respond
Back in July, Barack appeared on Michelle’s IMO podcast. There, they desperately tried to shoot down the escalating divorce rumors.
“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man,” Michelle claimed. “And we’ve had some really hard times. So we had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
“These are the kinds of things that I just miss, right?” Barack chimed in to add. “So I don’t even know this stuff’s going on. And then somebody will mention it to me and I’m all like, ‘what are you talking about?'”
Unfortunately for the Obamas, however, many are still not buying their claims that their marriage is still going strong.
Perhaps Michelle should focus a little more on her marriage, and a little less on renovations to the White House. It will certainly be interesting to see if the Obama marriage actually survives!
