Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly not invited to Christmas by the British royal family this year.

Royals Snub Meghan And Harry

A source told People Magazine that Meghan and Harry have not received an invitation to this year’s royal Christmas gathering at Sandringham. Meghan and Harry reportedly haven’t spent Christmas with the royals since 2018, which was the year of their wedding.

Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, were also not invited to the Trooping the Colour back in June. This is the annual birthday celebration for Harry’s father King Charles, 76.

It is believed that Meghan and Harry will be spending Christmas in Southern California, where they moved after stepping down as senior royals back in 2020.

Meghan was born and raised in Southern California. She also spent her 20s and early 30s there trying to make it as an actress. While she was eventually cast on the cable drama Suits, Meghan never achieved the A-list level fame that she seemingly craved until marrying Harry.

Royals Heading To Sandringham For Christmas

Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as their children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, are believed to be heading to Sandringham before Christmas. They will then remain there until New Year’s.

On Sunday, Kate took to Instagram to post an emotional message. She wrote that a “special letter, reflecting on the importance of love, empathy and how much we need one another in the most difficult times” will be sent to the guests invited to her second Together at Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey next month “and the fifteen Community Carol Services across the country, thanking those attending for all they do for others.”

This comes after a difficult year for Kate, as she battled an unspecified form of cancer. Kate revealed back in September that after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she is now cancer-free.

Spending Christmas at Sandringham is a tradition that the late great Queen Elizabeth stuck to throughout her life. Before her death in 2022, the Queen would typically retreat to Sandringham from December through February. This was the month that her beloved father King George VI died back in 1952.

Will Meghan And Harry Reach Out?

“It will be like any other Christmas, focused on the young family,” Grant Harrold, former personal butler to Charles, told The New York Post of the royal holiday plans. “They are very family-orientated, like the late queen, so that will be their focus.”

“I think Harry and Meghan themselves will possibly reach out,” he continued. “The thing about Christmas, it is about goodwill to others, letting bygones be bygones, forgetting the past, moving into the new year. So if there’s any point in the year that the families are going to communicate or touch base, it’s going to be over Christmas — there’s something magical about Christmas that gets families back together.”

Given how critical Meghan and Harry have been of the royal family in recent years, however, Kate and William would certainly be forgiven for wanting nothing to do with them, even over Christmas. Only time will tell if Meghan and Harry are ever able to get back in the royal fold again!
