It’s been two years since Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96. This came after a record-breaking 70(!) years on the British throne.

Sadly, the Queen was forced to spend her final years dealing with the antics of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020. They proceeded to then give an explosive tell-all family in which they blasted the royal family.

Now, the royal expert Richard Eden is revealing what the Queen really thought of Meghan. Indeed, it appears that the Queen saw right through the American actress from early on.

The Queen’s Initial Thoughts On Meghan

Eden told Daily Mail that the Queen was initially happy about Meghan when she learned Harry was dating her.

“Courtiers say the Queen believed that Meghan – a divorced, mixed-race American actress – would be a breath of fresh air and a great asset to the Monarchy,” Eden explained.

The Queen’s view of Meghan changed as the American prepared for her 2017 wedding. It was then that “the Queen began having concerns about Meghan’s behavior and approach.”

“First, she was said to be surprised that the new arrival rejected her suggestion that Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, offer her guidance on joining ‘The Firm,'” Eden recounted.

Meghan’s Tiara Controversy

Then there was Meghan’s attitude towards what she would wear on her head during her wedding. The Queen graciously “had offered Meghan access to her collection of tiaras and, during what Harry later described as an ‘extraordinary morning’, allowed her to try them on in front of her, her devoted dresser Angela Kelly and a royal jewelry expert in her private dressing room.”

“Something later went badly wrong, however, when Meghan tried to arrange a fitting with Kelly, who, it seems, did not like the manner in which she was being treated by the bride and groom,” Eden continued. “Perhaps accustomed to ordering around underlings on a television shoot, Meghan may not have been used to dealing with someone such as Kelly, who – although a servant – was also a confidante and friend of the Queen.”

In the years since then, Meghan has indeed been accused of frequently bullying staffers.

The Queen Kept Trying To Make Meghan Happy

Despite her growing misgivings about Meghan, the Queen continued to treat her with kindness. She extended various kind gestures to the American. The Queen made Meghan the royal patron of the National Theatre and giving her important positions within the Commonwealth. The monarch even named Meghan as the Vice-President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust in 2018.

“How did Meghan repay that generosity and kindness? By announcing, via a statement on the Sussexes’ Instagram page in January 2020, that they would be stepping back as senior working royals,” Eden lamented.

“Meghan then attacked the Royal Family in the most damaging way in that Oprah interview and later, in one of the most cringeworthy moments in her and Harry’s Netlfix ‘docu-series’, appeared to mock the deep curtsy that she had performed in front of the Queen at their first meeting,” he recalled.

Did Meghan Have A Plan All Along?

Those close to the Queen reportedly believe that Meghan had a plan all along.

“I have spoken to staff who worked at the Palace when the Sussexes were working royals, and some of them have told me that they formed the impression from the start that Meghan may not have wanted to make a success of her life in Britain,” Eden alleged.

“She appeared to be actively seeking reasons to be unhappy or resentful, and encouraged Harry’s long-standing bitterness at being the ‘spare’ and not the heir, the courtiers claim,” he added.

In the end, this was a tragic way for the Queen to spend her final years.

“How sad that the Queen’s genuine efforts to welcome Meghan during her final years, when she was in failing health, were thrown back in her face,” Eden concluded.

While it’s sad that the Queen has passed on, at least Meghan can’t hurt her anymore. Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth.
