We previously reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Last week, we reported that Kidman and Urban had finally finalized their divorce on Tuesday, January 6. Now, insiders are claiming that Kidman’s friends are “terrified” that she’ll take Urban back.
Kidman’s Friends ‘Terrified’ For Her
“Nicole has been putting on a brave face. But everyone close to her knows she still loves Keith and misses him,” an insider told Globe Magazine. This source added that Kidman has heard that Urban’s been telling mutual friends he wouldn’t mind giving the marriage another go.
“He’s done a real 180 the last few weeks and has started saying how much he regrets the breakup,” the insider continued. “Her friends are terrified she’s going to get sucked back in and are begging her not to let nostalgia cloud her judgment.”
Urban has reportedly been lonely and exhausted without Kidman and their daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. He was hit especially hard when Kidman took the girls to Australia for the Christmas holidays instead of spending them in Nashville together as a family, which is what they’d previously agreed upon.
“He didn’t kick up a fuss about the change of plans and was a real gentleman about it, which definitely softened her heart towards him,” the source explained.
Despite this, another insider claimed that Kidman is enjoying her new life without Urban. Indeed, she’s allegedly loving not having to constantly placate him. Kidman is also reportedly enjoying not having to worry that Urban will relapse from drugs and alcohol.
“She spent so many years tying herself into knots trying to make Keith happy. And now she’s finally free to put herself first,” the second insider stated. “She’s made huge strides since they split and her friends are determined not to let her slide back into old patterns.”
“They don’t want to see her lose herself all over again trying to save him, but there’s only so much they can do to stop her,” this source concluded.
Kidman ‘Didn’t Want’ This Split To Happen
Kidman and Urban secretly separated in June of last year, unbeknownst to their fans. Urban was the one who initiated the split. He then immediately moved out of the family home and into his own residence in Nashville.
Kidman then spent the summer desperately trying to save their marriage. The actress finally gave in and filed for divorce on September 30.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told People Magazine after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Another insider told US Weekly that Kidman “had faith they could work it out.” Indeed, she still had hope despite being “quietly separated for a while.
“This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated,” the source lamented. “Her trust was lost, and it was too far gone. Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public. She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months.”
Divorce is never easy, particularly after so many years together. Only time will tell if Kidman and Urban ever decide to give their love one more shot!
