We previously reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
On Tuesday, Kidman and Urban finalized their divorce. In the wake of this, an insider close to Urban is claiming that the country music star is “hurting.” Indeed, it seems that Urban may have “some serious regrets” now that he and Kidman are officially done forever.
Urban Is ‘Hurting’ Over Split
Kidman reportedly spent the holidays in Australia with her and Urban two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. Meanwhile, Urban appears to have spent Christmas alone at his home in Nashville, Tennessee. There, it appears that the reality of his new life hit him like a ton of bricks.
“He’s hurting and there are some serious regrets starting to kick in,” claimed a source close to Urban. “He misses the kids terribly and he’s finding it tough to deal with the harsh reality that his family is blown up.”
According to this insider, Urban’s financial stresses aren’t helping his mindset.
“Even if he and Nicole are keeping the divorce as amicable as possible, he’s plowing through a fortune,” the source alleged.
Kidman And Urban Finalize Divorce
Court documents obtained by US Weekly show that Kidman and Urban finalized their divorce in a Nashville courtroom on Tuesday. According to the documents, Kidman will be the primary parent of the couple’s two daughters.
Both Kidman and Urban have agreed to waive all child and spousal support rights, according to other documents obtained by People Magazine. Each of them will also be responsible for their own legal fees and expenses.
The parenting plan explicitly states that Kidman and Urban must both “behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced.”
“They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent,” the agreement continues. “They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”
Kidman’s Nashville home will be Sunday and Faith’s primary residence. She has them 306 days per year, while Urban has them the other 59. The girls are allowed to spend every other weekend with Urban. On those occasions, he has them from 10 a.m. on Saturday morning to 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.
“In the unlikely event that the parties do not agree on a major decision for either minor child, [Kidman] shall have final decision-making authority,” the plan states.
Kidman ‘Didn’t Want This’ Split To Happen
Kidman and Urban secretly separated in June of last year, unbeknownst to their fans. Urban was the one who initiated the split. He then immediately moved out of the family home and into his own residence in Nashville.
Kidman then spent the summer desperately trying to save their marriage. The actress finally gave in and filed for divorce on September 30.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told People Magazine after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Another insider told US Weekly that Kidman “had faith they could work it out.” Indeed, she still had hope despite being “quietly separated for a while.
“This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated,” the source lamented. “Her trust was lost, and it was too far gone. Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public. She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months.”
