Yesterday, we reported that the First Lady Melania Trump was demanding that ABC fire the late night host Jimmy Kimmel, who she described as a “coward.” She issued this demand after he joked that she looked like an “expectant widow” at the end of last week. Days later, a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
On Monday night, Kimmel completely unraveled as he responded to Melania’s call. Given Kimmel’s long history of Trump derangement syndrome, it should come as a surprise to nobody that he refused to back down.
Kimmel Fires Back
On the episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live that aired on Thursday, April 23, Kimmel said that Melania had a “glow like an expectant widow.” After a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents Dinner two days later, many saw this joke as being in poor taste.
Last night, however, Kimmel claimed that this was “obviously a joke about their age difference and the look of joy we see on her face every time they’re together.”
“It was a very light roast joke about the fact that he’s almost 80 and she’s younger than I am,” Kimmel, 58, said of President Donald Trump’s age. “It was not by any stretch a call to assassination and they know that. I’ve been very vocal for many years, speaking out against gun violence in particular.”
“But I understand that the First Lady had a stressful experience over the weekend and probably every weekend is pretty stressful in that house,” Kimmel added.
Kimmel Twists Melania’s Words
Kimmel proceeded to use Melania’s own words to attack her husband.
“I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject,” he stated. “I do and I think a great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it.”
“By the way, I should point out Donald Trump is allowed to say what he wants to say, as you are you, as am I, as are all of us,” Kimmel continued. “Because under the First Amendment we have a right as Americans to free speech.”
Kimmel went on to offer an apology to the Trumps that quickly devolved into more mockery.
“‘I am sorry that you and the president and everyone in that room on Saturday went through that,” Kimmel said. “I really am. Just because no one got killed doesn’t mean it wasn’t traumatic. It’s scary and we should come together and be best.”
That last line was clearly a sarcastic reference to Be Best, which is Melania’s anti-bullying campaign.

Kimmel’s Initial Response To Melania’s Demand
Insiders say that Kimmel isn’t worried about losing his cushy gig at ABC, where he makes $15 million per year. One source close to Kimmel told Daily Mail that when he learned that Melania was calling for him to be fired, he simply replied, “we don’t care.”
The insider went on to say that Kimmel and his team had a “good laugh” about the attacks that came in against him from Melania and the White House. The source claimed that “these people are so thin-skinned.”
“These people can dish it out and they can’t take it at all,” the insider added. “They’re the real snowflakes.”
Melania’s Plea To ABC
Melania took to social media on Monday morning to demand that Kimmel be fired.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country,” Melania, 56, wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”
“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” she continued. “A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
At the time of this writing, however, it seems that ABC will be standing by Kimmel.
The “joke” that Kimmel made was nothing short of shameful. After yet another assassination attempt on President Trump, Kimmel should have issued an apology last night and left it at that. Instead, he turned this into yet another opportunity to launch a hateful attack on President Trump and his family.
The left truly does have no shame.
