The singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson is speaking out to say that she wants everyone to be complimenting her on her massive weight loss.
Clarkson Wants Compliments About Her Weight Loss
Last Saturday, Clarkson, 43, performed at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There, she sang hits of hers including “Since You Been Gone” and her new song “Where Have You Been.”
Between her numbers, Clarkson chatted with members of the audience. At one point in the show, an audience member complimented Clarkson on her “sexy” appearance. The original American Idol winner was touched by this acknowledgement of her weight loss. However, she was quick to add that she feels like she doesn’t get enough compliments on her looks on the set of NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“Every time I go to an HR meeting, I’m like, ‘How have I not been fired?’ I grew up on the road at 19 years old, you know what I’m saying? I’m like, ‘Oh, that is inappropriate. I would never,'” Clarkson began.
“But they also say you’re not allowed to say someone looks attractive, and I say [expletive] that,” Clarkson continued. “Because some of those [expletives] are out here working, and we’re trying, and I want every mother-[expletive[ that passes me to go, ‘Well done.'”

Clarkson Battles With HR
Clarkson went on to recall “nearly getting in a fight” with an HR representative about this.
“They were like, ‘Well, it might make people feel bad that they looked bad before,'” she recalled. “I was fat before, so I’m saying I want you to say, ‘[expletive].'”
Clarkson made sure to also say that there’s “nothing wrong” with anyone’s bodies. She explained that she “felt very confident” at a higher weight.
“I felt fine both ways, but I’m just saying it’s a lot more fun with clothes now,” she admitted. “And I’ve been working on it.”
Clarkson concluded by thanking the fan for complimenting her before joking that she “will not be calling HR” about their interaction. “will not be calling HR” about the interaction.
“It is not a joke. I know HR is not a joke, but it is really funny some of the things they talk about,” she added, “and we’re like, ‘Oh no. We would never.'”

Clarkson’s Weight Loss
Last year, Clarkson revealed that she lost 60 pounds after reaching 203 pounds.
“My heaviest, I was like 203, and I’m 5 foot 3 and a half,” Clarkson said in a 2024 interview. “It’s funny because people assume, ‘Oh she must’ve been miserable, depressed, whatever,’ and I was like, ‘No I was not.’ I was never insecure about it, I was happy.”
Clarkson ultimately had to lose weight for medical reasons. Indeed, her doctor put her on a weight loss drug. Though Clarkson has never revealed the specific drug, she’s stressed that it’s not Ozempic.
“Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my bloodwork got so bad,” she previously explained. Clarkson went on to say that the drug is “something that aids in helping break down the sugar—obviously my body doesn’t do it right.”
Clarkson then admitted that her doctor “chased [her] for, like, two years” to take the unnamed medication. However, she was nervous to do so because of the potential impact it would have on her thyroid. Finally, Clarkson relented after seeing herself in a birthday special that she’d filmed.
“All of a sudden I paused it, and I was like, ‘Who is [expletive] is that?’” she recounted. “You see it and you’re like, ‘Well, she’s about to die of a heart attack.'”

These days, Clarkson appears to be happier and healthier than ever. Here’s hoping Clarkson starts getting the compliments about her looks that she’s craving!
