It’s been two months since the pop star Katy Perry went to space. She did so for eleven minutes as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female Blue Origin crew.

Unfortunately for Perry, this has since blown up in her face. Indeed, the mission has been met with tons of backlash. It’s even been reported that Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.

Now, things have gotten even worse for Perry. Insiders are claiming that the “stress” over the negative reception to Perry’s album “143” led to “tension” in her relationship with the former Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom.

Perry’s Relationship ‘Tension’ With Bloom

Perry’s album “143” came out in September of last year. Much to Perry’s dismay, it didn’t get the best reception among fans. This allegedly led to issues in her relationship with Bloom. They have been together for nine years, and they are parents to a 4 year-old daughter named Daisy.

“Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,” an insider told People Magazine. “It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.”

A second source chimed in to claim that Perry “was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It’s put stress on their relationship.”

Perry opened up about the negative criticism of “143” back in February.

“You shouldn’t read it when it’s good,” she said at the time. “You shouldn’t read it when it’s bad.”

“My therapist said something that really changed my life. What anybody thinks about you is none of your business,” Perry added. “It’s what you think about yourself.”

Perry went on to say that she stands by the album. She explained that she created “143” from “a real shift in my life when I became a mother, and I really tapped into that feminine divine energy. The messages on it are celebratory. They’re about love.”

Perry’s Blue Origin Backlash

This comes at a difficult time for Perry, as backlash has been pouring in over her Blue Origin space flight for over a month.

Perry travelled to space on the Blue Origin flight on April 14. She was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez.

All of the women have been hit with backlash over the flight. However, Perry has taken the most heat by far. According to Daily Mail, Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.

Perry Fires Back

Two months ago, Perry herself took to social media to address the hate that she’s been receiving.

“When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” she stated. “What’s real is seeing your faces every night, singing in unison, reading your notes, feeling your warmth. I find people to lock eyes and sing with and I know we are healing each other in a small way when I get to do that.”

“I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS,” Perry concluded.

This has clearly been a very difficult year for Perry. She’s currently trying to put all of this behind her with her international Lifetimes tour, which is set to run through December.

Moving forward, we can only hope that Perry doesn’t let her work stresses create issues in her home life. Only time will tell if Perry’s relationship with Bloom is able to survive this tumultuous time in her life!
