It’s been two weeks since the pop star Katy Perry went to space for eleven minutes as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female Blue Origin crew.

Unfortunately for Perry, this has since blown up in her face, as the mission has been met with tons of backlash. Indeed, Perry has found herself in such hot water that it’s been reported that her career has been permanently “ruined” by the space flight.

Now, Perry is finally firing back at her Blue Origin space flight haters. During her first concert in the wake of the flight, Perry attempted to shut these naysayers down.

Perry Sounds Off

While kicking off her space-inspired Lifetimes Tour in Mexico City last week, Perry tried to shut down the negative comments that she’s received as of late.

“Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?” Perry, 40, asked the crowd, seemingly referring to the space launch.

Later in the concert, Perry spotted two men in the audience who were wearing NASA-branded suits.

“I want these gentlemen to come on stage because they are dressed like my most current timeline,” she joked.

Perry proceeded to actually bring the two men onstage. Check out that uncomfortable moment for yourself in the video below.

PR Expert Weighs In

Perry’s Lifetimes Tour is set to see her travel the world over the coming months, with dates running into December. Unfortunately for her, however, experts are saying that she is facing “career extinction” thanks to the backlash over her Blue Origin space flight.

“Katy Perry’s reputation is vibe surfing the toilet drain faster than Blue Origin re-entered the atmosphere,” PR expert Eric Schiffer told Daily Mail last week. “Katy’s entering an area beyond career crisis into career extinction with a brand now synonymous with faux-feminist failure.”

“Katy went to space, but she still couldn’t find her lost fanbase. Even her backup dancers may be distancing themselves,” he continued. “She went to space for perspective, but Katy may soon need a telescope to see her career from here.”

Though Perry only just started her international tour, Schiffer is advising her to cancel it altogether. He firmly believes that the only way that she can save her career is to go away for awhile and take a hiatus from being in the public eye.

“She’s become the poster child for why some celebrities should disappear. Katy Perry should vanish from the public eye before she becomes a full-time meme,” he explained. “Katy’s an out-of-touch celebrity elite and magnet for making boneheaded moves in a desperate bid for relevance.”

Judging by Perry’s defiant comments at her concert, however, it’s unlikely that she’ll be taking this advice.

Perry’s ‘Regrets’ About Blue Origin Flight

Perry travelled to space on the Blue Origin flight on April 14. She was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez.

While all of the women have been hit with backlash over the flight, Perry has taken the most heat by far. This has led the “Firework” singer to have some regrets about taking part in it at all.

“Katy doesn’t regret going to space. It was life changing. What she does regret is making a public spectacle out of it,” a source close to Perry told The Mail.

The insider went on to say that Perry “never expected the backlash.” In the end, Perry has been left “disheartened” by what she sees as the “uncalled for and upsetting” response to her Blue Origin mission.

This has clearly been a very difficult few weeks for Perry. Indeed, her comments at her concert indicate that all of this backlash has hit a nerve for her. Only time will tell if Perry’s career will ever recover from this!
