It’s been three days since the pop star Katy Perry went to space for eleven minutes as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female crew. Now, Perry has broken her silence about how she’s getting back to “reality.”

Perry Gets Back To ‘Reality’

Perry, 40, took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to share a photo of her 4-year-old daughter Daisy’s lunchbox. It was packed with pretzels, carrots, pineapple chunks, fruit snacks, salami and cheese. The lunchbox also included a sandwich cut into the shape of a star, and it was surrounded by rasberries.

“Back to the best reality, packing school lunch,” Perry wrote alongside the photo.

Perry Brings A Daisy To Space

Perry shares Daisy with her fiancé, the former Lord Of The Rings star Orlando Bloom. In honor of Daisy, Perry brought a daisy with her on her flight to space.

Perry, 40, was one of six women to travel to space today on the Blue Origin flight. She was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez.

The flight took off from Blue Origin’s Launch Site One in West Texas at 9:30 a.m. It lasted for eleven minutes and traveled 65 miles above Earth’s surface.

“This experience is second to being a mom,” Perry told People Magazine after landing. “That’s why it was hard for me to go because that’s all my love right there, and I have to surrender and trust that the universe is going to take care of me and protect me and also my family and daughter.”

“I am full up from being able to get that gift of being a mom, and to go to space is incredible, and I wanted to model courage, worthiness and fearlessness,” she continued.

Each woman on the mission wore a suit that was tailored to her career. Perry’s outfit fittingly had a firework next to her name. This was a nod to her hit 2010 song “Firework.”

Perry Was ‘Honored’ To Take Part In This Mission

Perry made it clear just how excited she was to go to space as soon as this mission was announced back in February.

“If you had told me that I would be part of the first-ever all-female crew in space, I would have believed you ♥️😉,” Perry wrote on Instagram on February 27. “Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child. Although we didn’t grow up with much, I never stopped looking at the world with hopeful WONDER! I work hard to live my life that way still, and I am motivated more than ever to be an example for my daughter that women should take up space (pun intended).”

Perry went on to say that she feels “honored” to use the spaceflight to “show all of the youngest & most vulnerable among us to reach for the stars, literally and figuratively.”

Backstory: Here’s How Katy Perry Is Preparing To Go To Space Next Week

A Lifelong Dream Fulfilled

Days before the launch, Perry told Elle that going to space has been a lifelong dream for her.

“I have wanted to go to space for almost 20 years,” Perry said. “I was investigating all of the possible commercial options. Even when Blue Origin was first talking about commercial travel to space, I was like, ‘Sign me up! I’m first in line.’ And then they called me, and I was like, ‘Really? I get an invite?’”

“And then they told me about it being the first all-female crew,” she continued. “I take pause in those moments and ask the universe to give me confirmations. And I really felt very sure when they sent me the picture of the space pod, because on the front of the pod is a feather, and that’s my mom’s nickname for me. And so I was like, ‘OK, I see it.’”

Going to space will definitely be something that Perry will never forget. It will certainly be interesting to see what she says about her space journey in the future!
