Over the past few years, many celebrities have fled Hollywood in search of a better life far away from Hollywood. Now, Kathie Lee Gifford is speaking out to reveal why she thinks so many stars are leaving Los Angeles for rural America.
Gifford Sounds Off On Celebrities Leaving Hollywood
“They’ve had the other, and it’s not fulfilling,” Gifford, 71, told Fox News. “You get a lot of money, and you notice that by getting a lot of money, they’re able to move someplace where they can have a different kind of lifestyle. They can afford it.”
“I have a little farm in Tennessee as well as my home there, and I live next to big, big, big stars who have like 15,000 acres,” she continued. “I’ve got 10 little acres. I’m so happy there.”
Indeed, Gifford moved to Franklin, Tennessee from her longtime home in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2019. In the years since then, she hasn’t regretted this one bit!

Gifford Honors Her Parents With Tennessee Farm
Once she settled in Tennessee, Gifford renovated her property to become a French-inspired farm. She’s named it the “Orval” after the small town outside of Paris where she was conceived.
Indeed, Gifford sees the farm as a tribute to her late parents, Aaron and Joan Epstein. she’s hoping that her descendants will continue to learn about her incredible mother and father through the farm.
“I’m the only one who has a French farm in Tennessee because I did the whole thing as an homage to my mother and father, who made me in a converted barn in a little village outside of Paris a long, long time ago,” Gifford explained. “And I want my children and grandchildren and their grandchildren to know about them.”
“That will be the last book I write,” she continued. “It’s going to be about my mom and dad and what they did. And each one of them would have been a Dickens novel on their own — saddest, saddest experiences in life. And they’re two people that should have never even made it to 21. But they found each other and they found Jesus. And the last part of their life was just unbelievable.”

Celebrities Flee Hollywood
As for the mass exodus from Hollywood, that’s been happening for years. In 2023, the Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg moved his family out of Los Angeles to Las Vegas. There, he’s been on a mission to create a “Hollywood 2.0” in the Nevada city.
“We’re looking to create 10,000 jobs on the studio alone,” Wahlberg said at the time. “The average salary would be $100,000 more than what it is now. We want to train people both in front of and behind the camera, create jobs, most importantly, first and foremost, for locals.”
The former Full House actress Candace Cameron has fled California for Austin, Texas. Meanwhile, the former Happy Days Scott Baio has ran off to Florida.
Like Gifford, the former Wonder Years actress Danica McKellar has settled in Tennessee.
“My husband and I have been wanting more nature for a long time,” McKellar previously said of their move. “We were kind of ready to not be in a city anymore.”
In the end, it’s easy to see why so many stars have had enough of the craziness of Hollywood, and are opting for life in rural America instead. It will certainly be interesting to see how this impacts Hollywood in the years to come!
