Last year, the Hollywood star Candace Cameron Bure of “Full House” and “Fuller House” fame became the latest celebrity to flee Los Angeles, California when she moved to Austin, Texas with her family. Now, Cameron Bure is opening up about why exactly she did this.

‘We Didn’t Feel Safe Anymore’

“We didn’t feel safe anymore,” Cameron Bure, 48, told Fox News. “And that was the biggest reason that we moved. Not everyone in Hollywood lives behind guard gates, and we weren’t behind gates.”

Cameron Bure went on to explain that she and her family had “quite a few problems over the years” with fans doing things like coming to their door and hiding on their property.

“It’s amazing what people feel they can do,” she said. “And wanting to be a part of your life in some way. Some of it is innocent, some of it wasn’t. But it’s quite unnerving when you’re just trying to be a person and live life, and you don’t know what’s around the corner.”

Cameron Bure Moved ‘For Security Reasons’

This comes one month after Cameron Bure took to her Instagram Story to say, “Many of you have asked, ‘Did you move?’ Yes.'”

“‘Why?’ Mostly for security reasons,” she continued. “Also, family dynamics have changed. The kids don’t live in Los Angeles anymore. Mama will go where they go! I travel a lot. The seasons of life.”

Cameron Bure and her former professional hockey player husband Valeri Bure are parents to Natasha, 25, and sons Lev, 24, and Maksim, 22. Earlier this year, Cameron Bure talked about what life is like for her and her husband as “empty nesters,” explaining that they have stayed close to their adult children due to the “strong relationships” the family built when they were younger.

“We cultivated those strong relationships as they were young and all throughout their years in their small youth and then teenage years,” Cameron Bure said. “And now that they’re adults … now’s the time where you get to be friends with your kids. And it’s pretty awesome, but it’s all in the foundation and the groundwork that we get to have this fruitful relationship as adults.”

Celebrities Flee California

Cameron Bure is just one of many celebrities who have fled Los Angeles in recent years. Last year, the former “Happy Days” star Scott Baio announced that he would be leaving California to move to Florida.

“I see people… When I drive with my kid, I gotta turn her head away. She’s 14 years old. I see people defecating on the sidewalk,” Baio lamented during a call with the Clay & Buck show. “You see people in parks shooting up. There’s people passed out everywhere. I mean it. It’s not the isolated. It’s all over the place. And I’m about ready to get out of the state. So, you know, just so you guys know, that it’s no joke out here.”

“I think, probably since Governor Newsom, it’s really gotten bad, and maybe a little before that. So, maybe four or five years ago,” he continued. “It’s just… It’s out of control, guys. Listen, I’ve been here for 45, almost 50 years. I’ve seen this place go from an absolute paradise into a cesspool…”

More Celebrities Leave California

Other celebrities who have fled California recently include the devoutly Catholic movie star Mark Wahlberg and the conservative former “Superman” star Dean Cain, each of whom have moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Wahlberg told Fox News that he made the move to give his four “kids a better life,” while Cain directly said that he left California because the state “has gone crazy.”

“I had to leave California,” Cain said back in December. “California has gone crazy in a sense. There’s been so much. Look at the taxation. Look at the regulations. Look at the silly laws that have been passed.”

“There were things that I didn’t agree with, and I’ve been voting here and living here and working here my entire life,” he continued. “I finally got to a place where I was like, I don’t agree with this.”

It’s no wonder that Cameron Bure has decided to leave California in search of a better life in Texas. Here’s hoping that Cameron Bure is enjoying her new home!
