It’s been two months since Kate Middleton announced that she is cancer free, and now she’s stepping back into the public eye in her role as Princess.

Kate’s Festival Of Remembrance Appearance

On Saturday, Kate attended the annual Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall in London with her husband Prince William. This was the first of two events that were held in the U.K. over the weekend to honor those who died in war and conflict. The festival was held before an audience of Armed Forces families, and it included testimonies, storytelling, and music performances.

Kate, 42, appeared to be in good spirits as she talked to guests alongside William, 42. She was seen wearing a black dress that she paired with pearl drop earrings and a quilted Chanel handbag.

Also in attendance were King Charles, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. Sadly, Queen Camilla, 77, was absent as she battled a chest infection.

This festival was Kate’s first appearance at an official state ceremonial event since announcing on September 9 that she is now “cancer free.” Last month, she made her first post-chemo public engagement when she traveled with William to Southport, England. There, Kate met the parents of the victims in a mass stabbing attack that took place at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class back in July.

‘Brutal’ Year For Royals

Last week, William opened up about how “brutal” this year has been for him. Not only was Kate diagnosed with cancer, but his father King Charles was as well.

“It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life,” William said in South Africa the day after his Earthshot Prize awards ceremony.

“So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” he continued. “But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”

Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world back in March. She has never specified the type of cancer that she had. Instead, Kate only revealed that it was detected during  “planned abdominal surgery” in January. Kate added that she would be undergoing “preventative chemotherapy.”

Kate Is ‘Cancer Free’

On September 9, Kate revealed that she is “cancer free.” She said this in a video message that featured William and their three children.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate began in the video. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” she continued. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

Kate went on to say that she’s “cancer free.” However, she knows that she still has a long road to recovery ahead of her.

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” she said. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes. I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

After a difficult year for Kate and her whole family, we’re glad that she appears to be doing so well. Please join us in saying a prayer for Kate’s health moving forward!
