Kate Middleton is finally returning to her official royal duties after spending much of last year battling cancer. Now, royal experts are speaking out to explain what kind of pressure Kate is facing as she moves inevitably towards becoming Queen of England someday soon.

Indeed, Kate’s husband Prince William is next in line for the throne. Meanwhile, William’s 76 year-old father King Charles is currently fighting a cancer battle of his own. Though the pressure on Kate is only increasing, she thankfully appears to be handling it with her typical grace, strength, and class.

Over the years, we’ve seen that William made an excellent choice.

Pressure On Kate Increases

“Her priority and thoughts are keeping her family well and safe, as well as forging ahead as the relatable and relevant future queen,” British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News.

“Princess Catherine is prepared for the current working shift,” Chard continued. “As the statesman, Prince William is center stage and working on his soft diplomacy skills. His diplomatic missions designed to boost UK ties [will] mean more travel… Princess Catherine knew exactly what her role would be when marrying into the royal family. She has all the fitting attributes, seamlessly transitioning into her role over many years.”

This comes after other royal insiders told People Magazine that Kate, 43, has been “managing the growing expectations tied to her future role as queen.” They added that it’s “a responsibility that now feels more pressing than ever.”

Charles’ Cancer Battle Has Changed Things

Charles has never revealed the specific type of cancer he’s battling. However, now that he’s been fighting cancer for over a year, all eyes are on William and Kate when it comes to the future of the monarchy.

“King Charles is looking his age now and his illness has taken its toll,” explained royal expert Ian Pelham Turner. “A new era of [a] young monarchy is set to take over the mantle in the future.”

“The pressure of being the Princess of Wales, looking after a young family, being by William’s side, still recovering from cancer treatments, as well as the mental trauma she faced still weighs heavily on Kate,” he stated. “But she seems to be smiling throughout, delighting crowds when seen in public, and giving a new confidence to the future monarchy.”

Kate’s Own Private Cancer Battle

This comes after Kate spent much of 2024 battling her own unspecified form of cancer. She revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world in March of last year, explaining that it had been discovered two months before during abdominal surgery.

Kate spent months receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments before finally being declared “cancer free” in September of 2024. Back in January, Kate confirmed that her cancer has gone into remission.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” Kate said in a statement.

Now that this cancer battle is behind her, Kate can refocus on both her royal duties and on raising her three children. In the end, we aren’t surprised that Kate is handling the mounting pressure of becoming Queen someday so well. If anyone has what it takes to be an incredible Queen of England, it’s Kate Middleton!
