Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, celebrated her 43rd birthday on Thursday. This was a big day for her, as it was her first birthday since she successfully beat cancer in 2024. To mark the occasion, William took to social media to declare his love for Kate in a beautiful way.

William Honors Kate

“To the most incredible wife and mother,” William wrote. “The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable.”

“George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you,” he continued. “Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you.”

William and Kate are parents to Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

William wrote this birthday tribute alongside a never-before-seen photo of Kate. The photo was reportedly taken by Matt Porteous in Windsor Castle last summer. Kate looks relaxed in the image as she rocks a plaid scarf, a white T-shirt, and jeans paired with a blazer.

Kate completed her laid back look with her sapphire and diamond engagement ring. This piece of jewelry belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

William’s post came as a surprise, since he and Kate do not usually write personal messages on social media. While William is known to be devoted to his wife, it’s rare that he declares his love for her publicly in this way.

How Kate Spent Her Birthday After Beating Cancer

British royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News that Kate spent her birthday at home at Adelaide Cottage, Windsor with her husband and their three children.

“While usually still in Norfolk at their Anmer Hall home for Princess Catherine’s birthday, this year they returned early to Adelaide Cottage, so her children could be back to school,” said Fordwich. “Ever the devoted and engaged parent, her children come first, so she is more concerned with their schooling than her birthday.”

“Given her birthday falls today, on a school day, and although Prince William has professed not to be a particularly brilliant cook, he is known to make a great breakfast, which he may well have made for her this morning,” he continued.

Kate Is ‘Cancer-Free’

This birthday was undoubtedly more significant to Kate than her previous ones. In March of last year, Kate revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery two months prior. Though she never specified what form of cancer she had, Kate let it be known that she would be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

After months of this, Kate finally revealed in September that she was “cancer-free.”

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” she said in a video posted to social media at the time. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

Kate Returning To Royal Duties After Difficult Year

This cancer battle understandably took a toll on Kate.

“I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had,” Kate admitted last month.

Robert Hardman, author of The Making of a King: Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, told People Magazine that Kate is slowly returning to her official royal duties as she regains her strength.

“We are being encouraged not to look at this as a chapter that’s over, and then it’s back to normal because cancer doesn’t work like that,” said Hardman. “The details remain private, but there’s no getting over the reality that it’s an unpredictable disease.”

After everything that she’s been through over the past year, Kate certainly deserves some time to relax in peace. We’d like to wish her a very happy birthday, and many more to come!
