King Charles was rushed to the hospital on Thursday as he continues to battle cancer. The situation has forced him to cancel a number of royal engagements that he had scheduled for the coming days.
King Charles Rushed To The Hospital
Sources told Daily Mail that Charles, 76, had a “scheduled” appointment with his doctor on Thursday. However, it sounds a little more serious than that: reports are coming out that he suffered “temporary side-effects” from his ongoing medical care for his cancer during this appointment.
This led to him being rushed to the hospital, where he was kept for a period of observation. Thankfully, he was able to return to his home at Clarence House by the end of the night, but these kinds of scares at his age could easily turn serious.
Insiders close to Charles claimed that the “brief” hospital trip was “connected to [his] treatment program.” While they alleged that there was “no drama” surrounding this, The Mail pointed out that it’s “a concerning reminder that, more than a year after announcing he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, the King is still undergoing treatment while undertaking a busy diary of public engagements.”
Buckingham Palace issued a statement about the hospitalization late Thursday night.
“His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled,” the statement continued. It added that Charles “would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

Charles’ Private Cancer Battle
Charles has never revealed the specific type of cancer that he is suffering from, most likely for security reasons. Buckingham Palace has only confirmed that it is not related to prostate surgery that he underwent in January of last year. However, it was during this surgery that doctors discovered the other cancer.
Charles’ cancer treatment remains ongoing at this time. The palace alleges that it is moving “in a very positive direction.”

Charles Cancels Upcoming Engagements
Since Charles has cancelled his upcoming engagements, it’s likely that he’ll spend the coming days resting.
“His Majesty was due to receive Credentials from the Ambassadors of three different nations this afternoon,” his spokesperson said on Friday. “Tomorrow, he was due to undertake four public engagements in Birmingham and is greatly disappointed to be missing them on this occasion.”
“He very much hopes that they can be rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible,” the spokesperson added.
Charles and his wife Queen Camilla are set to visit Italy on April 7. At the time of this writing, it appears that this visit will still be happening.
This has clearly been a very difficult time for Charles. Please join us in saying a prayer for the King as his cancer battle continues!
